Changing a Laser

I found a digital one that goes to 60. 30 is good; because the highest most circuits are is 24vdc. That is the highest.

Very late to this thread Larry.
First, do you see any red light when you close the tray with no disc? Is the lens moving up and down? Did you open the shorting pins on the KSS-213 laser?
BTW, do not change the chip. Cancel the order if possible....it will not solve your problem!

No to all questions. Why what is up? Where are the shorting pins? What is wrong with it?

Look at the laser's pcb, solder side. In the lower left corner you will see a small solder blob. remove this solder, and the pickup will work.

SLACKERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea so far so good. Already had a brokerage acct with them. It should have left Canada by now. LOL

Doc I see one small blob by itself on the L/H side of the PCB is that it?

Larry

That's the one. When you touch it with your iron the solder will go away.

Will do that project later. LOL Listening to some good jams at the moment about to put the Frank Marino in.

Larry
Thanks Doc
