Just asking: Is the abundance of flies this year an OMEN? Do they know something?

Where I'm at , this year, it's an over abundance of yellowjacket wasps. Haven't noticed flies.

Steven, thank you for that photo tour of your life! Like you, I'm into audio and bikes, my bikes are just not quite as vintage. I spotted that timer I sold you on page 17 - glad you're getting use out of it. Since then, I bought a Pioneer DT-555 at a thrift store, very cherry, and in black finish.

Hey, I need some attention here, seriously and I also have some good progress to report in a couple pics...

I cant get the NAB hub off the takeup side of my GX-636 even though I finally got it off the other spindle so I'm using the Akai NAB reel on the takeup. The Teac 3300 needs go have the rubber things found as I can't keep the reel stable or get the spindle lock to come all the way out and twist but the heads and tape path got a really good cleaning (and no real residue came up so that's clean and ready)...find the cord and manage those reels and I should have two decks on the tape switcher to record simultaneously.

I got rid of a bunch of stuff from the sheds to go to another reuse charity and that included the poor Yamaha Electone organ that had so many bad keys and it just started thumping at 1 CPS. Maybe it will get repaired and see good use.

My brother in law is coming over tomorrow (Friday) with my Pioneer QX-636 and Kenwood KR-4600 and to help finish the window plastic installation and get the furnace going so I'm getting as much as I can do done to clear off the floors etc.

This once again brings me to the fact that I have but ONE fully functional cassette deck at the moment and I had to borrow a dual deck, see if I can get a good recording from the Teac V-500X still although the rewind is out and I have to uise the lone good side of the Pioneer dual I have to monitor and rewind as the record side is MUD, I ran it into the ground or something and a thorough cleaning didn't help that side at all.

I seriously wanted to be done and hibernate...at least I'm close.

I could use that tire or something on the Onkyo...IF I can easily get the door on the Rotel that came off in shipping and fix the left side of another Onkyo where the arm that hold the tape in place broke off...I might manage to use the two RS tape switchers as banks for the recording of four copies at once...the closest length to the album time in 8 tracks I have are 70 min carts so that would have repeated music.

Lee, if you're reading this I've been trying to get ahold of you since Wednesday.

First of all, the Dell Dimension 2400 I was given that wasn't getting past the Windows opening screen now isn't recognizing anything on the Primary Master line (Drive 0) and I'm about to salvage it. The power switch will go on my Asus P4PE-X chassis to see if it will fire up.

It's likely that the Compaq EVO and quadcore will get Windows 7 by summer, the Asus will hopefully be an A/V server tower and this Dell will get a new load of Windows XP before the deadline and move to the bench offline.

I worked myself into cramps yesterday morning and then the tree service came to remove the rest of the huge evergreen that always threatened to come down. If you use Google Earth though I'm sure you'll see the removed trees for a couple more years...

The neighbors added stuff but I did a lot of the dumpster filling today. We have to replace the last three wooden windows before the housing inspection in April, one sticks open or shut and the one by my bed had the lock hjust FALL OFF...it has to lock, open and close okay and the rest are thermal-efficient newer metal and vinyl frames. Anyway, they cleared the lot of debris and all we have to do is rake the old needles and leaves...it did wonders for the look of the property and got rid of a bunch of thistle trees as well.

The kitchen floor is finally cleared and there's nothing under the table anymore. I'm going through the second bedroom and sorting and reracking. the Revox is up in it's space in the recording center but not hooked up yet. I still have things anywhere working on them...I'm getting there though.

In a week the sheds will be gone through and I hope to abandon the old one to the neighbors.

Here is the big deal I alluded to earlier!

I got most of the lawn work done, moved half of the old shed went grocery shopping,,,

My brother in law helped me and basically doubled what I could afford and my freezer if stuffed! The fridge too, as well as the cupboard. I'm pretty tired right now but I'll get as many pictures as I can up now.

Some of them were taken with the Mavica MVC-FD82 I got Saturday at the thrift store, with a charger and good battery (same as the other five) for about $20, as well as over a dozen CDs from Aerosmith to Bobby Taylor.

Got stuff in the mail, a lot of stuff and took care of my bills...a pretty great weekend.

Oh yeah, most of the tress on the property were taken down last month and it's sooooo much brighter and spacious now, 200 percent better!

I just finished round two of the re-rack of the new shed and I am really worn out from moving stuff back in that I didn't get in there or shelved, and I got a TONNE of it in the new shed.

I'm sore and don't feel good but that's done and the Pioneers are safe in the house...OUCH. That hurt.

The only problem the drain tubes run into the trunk, and then there the water sits Thank God I have a shop vac at my disposal
Fixing that sunroof is no easy task either

Getting old sucks. While just yesterday I had to get some water out of the trunk of my car, dam near killed me. Had to take out the back seat, and all the carpet as it was soaked from the darn sunroof leaking Toyota in the infinite wisdom has drip tubes just in case the sunroof does not close all the way, to drain excess water. The only problem the drain tubes run into the trunk, and then there the water sits Thank God I have a shop vac at my disposal

I had lots of experience fixing a similar issue with a Passat. It took me months of on and off again time, but I finally found it. VW uses four drain tubes from each corner of the sunroof housing. The felt seal around the movable portion of the sunroof wasn't designed to be a water tight seal. That's why the drains are there. Fronts go down the A pillars to behind the front wheels. Rears go down the C pillars to in front of the rear wheels. A maintenance job is to periodically clean them out. I used the tried and true "pressurize the interior" of the car with your shop vac exhaust and spray soapy water over the vehicle. Couldn't find any bubbles anywhere. Pulled out the floor mats and shot pressurized water at the underside of the vehicle. No water intrusion.

Started trying to clean the drain tubes and one wouldn't let me push a fibreglass fish tape thru it. It would stop part way. Turned out the drain tube had been installed or somehow been twisted so that it was folded over on itself and permanently took that position when it was removed. I ended up having to replace the drain tube which was a fun job in itself. You had to partially remove the headliner to get at the drain tube attachment point. I felt great after I fixed it, but it sure was a source of aggravation for a long time.
