Had I seen that BD, I'd have gobbled er up!!

Whoever got it Lee, is a very lucky boy....
I'm so impressed with my pair.
.... but I really need to upgrade my speakers now.
I was thinking of something along the lines of a pair of Magneplanar.
There's a good working pair going locally starting at AU$280, with no bidders yet a 4 1/2 days to go.
Definitely worth watching.

I need your advice on how to handle noise complaints, just in case (evil grin).

It weighs a tonne. Heaviest amp I have owned. 15-20kg maybe more.

the weight of anything is a good indication if the manufacturer put in a power supply up to the job (or not).
it's a good starting point.
... and your Pioneer (from your pics) seems to be a "plug maniacs" delight....
... and that can only be a good thing. :laughing9:

Yes the power supply has some big nads. I will take a photo with the top off it when I am not so tired.

then tell him to put the cutlery in the draw where it belongs. :laughing9::laughing9:

If he gives me trouble I'll just turn the wireless off and he will have no internet connection for his porn. I also send his pay slip into his work as he is too dumb to buy or operate a scanner, guess I have the upper hand here =P.

I really wonder what you do with all that power you have in those amps. If you don't listen to it "loud" much anymore I guess you could call it headroom, right? Improves overall sound quality? This hobby is a can of worms, now I'm thinking about better speakers, cabling, rca leads, no $$ but one can dream right?

i've been lucky last week.
we had some tradesmen working up stairs, so i've been able to turn things up occasionally.
i normally don't run it loud, but the hammers were driving me, (and everyone else) crazy.
so i just had a word with 'em, and asked if they could hammer in time with the music.
problem solved, and everyone's happy.

Neighbor has been working long hours the last two days. Its been great. Still have not gotten anywhere near half on the volume dial, there's certainly enough power there, but I still want more. I'll hang onto these puppies for some time and then demote them to pre-amp duties when a power amp comes along.

you have to remember Derek, no amount of quantity will ever replace quality.
quiet can sound awesome too, if it's quality!

Yes I have noticed that even at lower levels there is increased listening pleasure in an amp upgrade. I like how the lights dim for a split second when I fire it up.

yeh, heh heh heh.... don't mind doin' that myself, just not as often as i used to these days,
but still...... every now and then, when the time's right.

and on that note, i'm off to la la land.

good night Derek.

George.
