Hi Joe,
Yes, that is the issue. I have a non-latching version of the switch, it is ON-Mom.
It was frustrating me trying to figure out why I had no continuity unless I held the switch in.
Correct switch on it's way.
Thank You

Does the "push to listen" version come with a telescoping broom handle so I can sit in the sweet spot and listen? :D
I don't think that version will be a hot seller.
I did get the rest of the wiring done today, heat sinks chamfered, and checked the amplifier very thoroughly from one end to the other.
Getting close to initial bring up and adding transistors.
Thanks for everything all of you !

A cotactor for power control is not a crazy idea- latch it and if the power drops out for any reason, the switch (contactor) remains open to avoid sudden in-rush and short on/off cycles as the power company gets stuff back on line again...

Costs money to have cool features, so production usually didn't bother.

The Model ONE handles that elegantly Jim...

Finally getting back to posting some pictures of the Model One Build and Completion.

My jaw is still on the floor from first passing a signal through the new Model One. I have built and enjoyed (3) Fully WOPL’s 700b’s and have been so happy with them, after owning them since the late 1970’s and dealing with all of the Phase Linear issues. I cannot say enough about the full WOPL treatment, Joe’s designs are amazing.

Then there is the Model One……I have thoroughly enjoyed the build, superb, world class quality, very well designed, and now to experience the music through the Model One, it is definitely next level. I didn’t think anything could surpass the last fully WOPL’d 700b that I built in terms of sound definition, but as I get to know this new Model One, I am amazed. I finished the assembly yesterday, and added it my second system to prove out any bugs that I may have encountered. I have older JBL Studio Monitors (4343B 4 Way) in that system, and did not want to hook the Model One up into my main system, until I had some time on it. Honestly I have never heard those JBL’s sound that good, ever!

So after several hours of feeding the new Model One, all types of music, I could not put off adding it to my main system. I run Klipsch LaScala’s and a REL Sub-Woofer in the main system. The horns love this amplifier. I don’t want to get to wordy here, and I have some listening to do, but I am blown away by what I am hearing on many of my favorite recordings, LP’s, CD’s and streaming already.

There is a new depth to the soundstage, almost a 3d type experience, (imaging) it is crisper, more defined, and unbelievably …. more headroom! I am hearing small details between me and the amplifier, if that makes any sense. Soundstage has always been incredible with the WOPL 700b, but this new “depth” is exciting.

I will leave it at that. I would love to build one a month, I enjoyed this experience immensely….and I learned the workings of a very well-designed amplifier thoroughly.
Thanks

Very nice!

Glad to see another Model ONE making music out in the world.

Interesting to see the size comparison to a 700B, the power supply toroidal transformer within the ONE is massive (along with twice the capacitance of a 700B).

Have thrown a lot at the Model One the last couple days.
This amplifier is soooooo quiet, noise floor is incredible.
Really enjoying it, all media sounds amazing. Everything from Early Simon and Garfunkle LP's to Shpongle.
Such crisp detail, still eludes a big WOW every time I play something new on it.
Had some friends well versed in audio over and they all want one now.
Joe and White Oak hit another home run with the Model One.

With 2 of em in the rack it's impressive. My local Dominoes driver is a black guy playing basketball for the local college. He's from out of town. Last delivery he was booming the bass in a pretty decent car tunebox.
I asked if he wanted to hear how bass should sound, in the mancave we went....he was last heard mumbling as he left " in Gillette, Wyo, who would thunk
it" ...
He's never heard of White Oak Audio either...he said he's heard a few good systems.....but not like this. And he's from Chicago...

I decided to put this comment in my post on the "Birth of a New Model One" instead of “What Are You Listening To Today” to note an observation that I have had with the Model One that we really have not discussed yet. Joe’s design for the WOPL 400 ( I and Series II) and the 700 (B and Series II) with the “Dual Mono” boards has always amazed me when listening to so many of my original 40’s to 60’s LP’s that were recorded in Mono. The design just brought new life to these recordings, amazing depth and clarity.

The new Model One really shines in this regard, and after listening to many of my older recordings, I had to comment on how profound this is. If you look at how Joe designed the Model One, it is the perfect “Dual Mono” design, each channel is totally independent, and we can fine tune this in each channel with the Jumper Settings. I love this design. It’s been about a month since I finished the Model One, and I have enjoyed trouble free, incredible listening every day since.

I am putting up Dinah Washington’s “In The Land Of Hi-Fi” LP from 1956. This is an original first pressing from 1956. It is mint shape, no crackles, no pops, just as clean as can be. I cannot believe how incredible this sounds, her voice is strong, bold and so clear. The Hal Mooney orchestra behind her is equally amazing. We usually talk about headroom, and soundstage, imaging etc. when describing an amplifier, but the Model One takes listening to these older very well engineered mono LP’s to a new dimension. Granted all things in the system have to be compatible but as blown away as I have been with my WOPL 700b’s ….. playing the same recordings with the Model One in the system adds so much more to the term “Hi-Fi”, and as the title of Dinah Washington‘s album says, she was “In The Land of Hi-Fi” with this recording. So many times, I put one of my oldies on, and when the music starts, I just smile from ear to ear, it’s as good as it gets ! Often I simply smile, and say “Wow” out loud. This new Model One shines all around, and is dead quiet at idle, between tracks. I don’t post much of that early music, figure no one really wants to see, or hear it, but I love it, and the Model One lets me hear it at its absolute best. I often comment regardless if it is an older Mono recording or Stereo LP, CD, or Streaming “This is the way it was recorded”, and meant to be heard.
Thanks again Joe !!!
