Yes it would benefit. Would have to research what would work in that preamp. I like the way the I/O jacks come into that preamp. Very novel and built like a brick house.

Thanx Joe,
I'm just not happy with anything I own any more..... :(
I'm desperate for a change. I can't tell if it's the gear, my hearing, or the dark place my mind is at the moment....
If I can salvage things without selling them, by 'upgrading' certain components affordably, then great, but otherwise things are going to start to get sold off.
I'd like to go back to Class A amps to start with I think. I'm not comfortable with my PL's anymore, not knowing when they're going to die on me and take out my speakers in the process.
Sure, it's OK for you guys to spend huge amounts of time and money on getting these things up to the standard they should be, but all that's way out of my league. I don't have the brains or the money to follow suit, so out it all goes.
Whatever help you can offer in regards to my IC150 and suitable op amps would be immensely and gratefully appreciated.
I just don't know what to do any more....... :confused2:

can I salvage the one in my 200 (which had been disconnected previously as it didn't suit PA use), and stick that into either a 400 or 700 Lee?
I've read 'somewhere' in one of the previous threads here, that that's what these protect relays are based on. Correct me if I'm wrong (which I usually am....)

That's exactly what they are based on. Can ya pull it and take some pics? Might have to change a resistor or two.

Lee,
I'll pull the 200 once I've cleared some space. (that shouldn't take more than a day or two)
Have to pull my JBL's to bits today to get the x-o's out, as these things sound just awful. There is something drastically wrong with the lo-midrange. I have to pull 315Hz off the scale to compensate. Not good.....
.... and more sh*t hits the fan. (BIG SIGH)

Ya know BD - "we" can help. There is enough knowledge here that a step by step process can walk you through rebuilds. The PL's can be rebuilt without spending an arse tonne of money and they normally don't smoke speakers. I played mine for years with no issues. There is hope - and this is coming from me no less!!!!!!!:confused2:

Heck - I'll even post a joke now and then.

I almost spit out my beer reading your jumping out the window (from the ground floor) - too f##ing funny!

We're here - at least physically - not sure about anything else!

Whenever is cool BD. I ain't going anywhere.....
You inspired me Lee, so I pulled that sucker out, flipped it's lid, and stuck my head in.
Amazing. An unadulterated one. All original, except for a solder bridge across the relay inputs.
Even the trannies are all original NEC ***555/600
Nuthin' touched.
Can't take a very good pic right now due to my non-cooperative camera. (I'll borrow one tomorrow.) Even the phone couldn't grab a decent pic.

..... and to top all this off, my iBook died AGAIN trying to send an email.

S, you've got a fully comp 700 with 2SD555's and 2SB600's. Damn, don't get much better than that. How much to ship it here?
