Ben, I love that shot of the back of the truck!! Did the meters survive the trip?? Shake the amp good to let the washers get to the bottom with the face plate facing you, don't go crazy looking for them. If it was the 4-40 standoff the only washer was on the outside....

Found the screw and 2 washers inside the packing box. Is there a nut that goes on this as well? I see the left board has one, but it also has a wire coming off of it.

That standoff became redundant as soon as soon as the outputs were mounted. Leave it out, the standoff is the nut. You have nothing to worry about now. Just check to make sure the meter mounting hardware is still in place.

In my poking around, I noticed one of the retaining screws for the meter was loose. Gonna tighten it up.

Yeah, do that....but not too tight, seems to mess with meter movement. Also take a de-static rag to the meter face, static electricity really messes with em..

At some point today it will get wired in. Bit of a pain getting behind the stand.

Finally got it hooked up today. Powering 901's currently. The real test will have to be putting it on the Elites, as the 901's just act like 901's. A lot of meter movement without a lot of volume. The switch may have to occur next weekend, as it really is a pain trying to frig around down there.

WOPL seems to really show that my suspected 1801 channel issue is actually a pre amp issue. Unfortunately without gains, im not able to balance that issue at the amp.

Also swapped out the 2M Red for the Blue. Trying out some albums I find sonically pleasing.

Some meter movement :happy3:

I remember someone possibly mentioning that there is an adjustment that can be made to the meters? Is there a way to tame them a bit. Is this something I could on my own?

I have not tested yet, but the behavior of the meters currently, it would very easy for me to bury them at +3. The volume on my pre amp for this video was somewhere between 9 and 10 oclock.

You can make them less sensitive by pulling the bottom cover and moving the black shorting connector to the other pin. There are 3 pins, the connector shorts 2 at a time. move the connector to the other pin and the middle one. That puts the meter sensitivity to more what the factory came out with. This shorting connector is on the light board...

I saw the jumper on the light board when I had it open. Whenever I make the switch to the Elites, ill change that around. Im sure without the EQ boost from the 901's it wouldnt be so wild, but im betting the lower setting will be more inline with how my 1801's meters read out.

Its also quite visible on both amp's, that there is a channel balance issue. Gonna have to get my pre amp over to Bill one of these days. Dont want to overload him though as he's still messing with one eye.

There are balance issues with the meters, the right does not react as the left does, but it's not because the inputs are not equal.

Hrm, is that normal on all meters? Does it makes sense that both amps show the same readout that it would be the pre amp? As well, I notice channel balance issues when recording to reel, or cassette. Obviously with certain songs and balancing in recording, both channels dont always show the same readout, i just find it odd that both amps show the right channel lower than the left.
