Ok, so if someone would be so kind to write up the rules then we can make 'er happen. Here's my first draft on 'em.
1. All auctions require membership with members in good standing.
2. Auctions will have a defined start time and end time. Time will be either GMT or EST (or specified by the seller?). It's up to the seller to specify - Hey.. if the seller wants a one hour auction where they start it at .01, but since only one person "sees" it at that time and buys it for .01, well... that's a "lesson learned"
3. Auctions shall have
a. A valid start time and date (see rule 5b for reasoning behind this), and timezone
b. A description of the item in the title and the message body
c. Indication of acceptable payment methods, what shipping will be allowed/used, and how far the seller is willing to ship the item to (example, will ship worldwide.. will only ship to US.. etc)
c. A starting minimum bid
d. Whether or not a "reserve" is in place (hmmm... we have to think about how to keep that "honest"?)
e. Ending date and time, and timezone (if we didn't want to specify it as mandatory EST, etc.. )
f. Decent piccies
4. All "timings" for auction will be the server time itself (see the time blurb under the banner above - THAT is the official "time"). Post times will be "official" times - no getting around it.
5. All posts will adhere to (and be set up with) the following parameters.
a. NO editing once the auction has officially "started"
b. Editing the 1st post will be allowed, up to the actual start time specified. If editing is needed, contact a mod and .... (hmm.. need more thinking on this.... what if no mod's around, it's 5 minutes to "start time", and you accidentally listed that PL 700B with a .01 minimum and are running it for only an hour???
)
c. Any post past the 1st post - ZERO editing allowed. So be careful!
6. The final bid post with the post time equal to or less than the official auction end time, with a valid "higher bid", wins.
7. Use of auction sections indicates the acceptance on all parties to hold the site harmless, blah blah blah (in other words... post at your own risk.. no guarantees.. yadda yadda... ). We'll go find something with enough "legal-ese" that's suitable for this.
Ok, there's enough rules to get started.. let's get 'em finalized, then off it goes to "construction"
