This is my thinking. I will give you guys 1st dibs. If it doesn't sell off to ebay it goes. I have not seen any of the CDPs on ebay.

So you guys will be 1st. Do we do them one at a time or all at once? I need some suggestions.

Can we set up a separate section for the auctions. If you guys want you can list your own equipment also.

So, one person posts a bid, then someone bids higher and so on and so on?

Or maybe you have a reserve figure in mind (which you can change whenever you want when it gets close to that figure)

Example, Lee wants $300 for a Spec 1, the biding gets to $250 and stalls, he decides it's not a big deal to take $50 less than he wanted, and drops the reserve.

What is a high bidder backs out? Will Guido come a knockin'?

I really think this should be advertised around (I'd be happy to post some up). This should all be very professional to get some new members, sell some awesome equipment for a good price.

OK this is what I think. Just me now.
1 Yes on the bidding
2 We could do that. Like looking for 250.00 but will consider all bids
3 High bidder backs out goes to next bidder. Will not be able to ever purchase or bid on this site.

Don't jump yet till we get it all figured out. The reason for Paypal is it covers your butt and theirs. Unless other arraignments are made.

OK here is my thinking. The auction will have its own section. It will be like posting. The seller will list his item under a section. His info will include length of auction. Starting bid. How he wants to be paid. To bid you just reply with your bid. I think minimum bids should be 1.00. If the winning bidder backs out. The next highest will win and that bidder who backed out will no longer be able to use any selling service in this forum.

There are no fees for this. If we can get it up. I would like to start Monday. If Jerry can geter done by then.

Now your inputs. Let me have them.

Ok, bear with me,

The seller starts with an item as you said, they have a reserve. I don't think they should post the reserve, bidding should start at a reasonable $ amount the seller sets. Say $50 for a $200 reserve item, or $5 on a $50 one. Make sense?

Then bidding starts, bug says $55 on the $200 reserve one, I say $100, you say $125, bug is back at $175.(at this point the seller goes HMMMM) and posts the reserve is off, well everyone knows it's up for grabs now. The ones who really want it go slowly up over the next. (the end time set by the seller gets closer) so it could go over the $200 reserve. That's the only fair way on how to handle a reserve auction.

I think we should copy ebay with the no pull early rule. The seller took the time to post/photograph/describe the item, let's keep it open to all for the time set by the seller. If I post a Elite item and Elite-ist, Tasuke and laatsch55 all want it bad, Elite-ist PM's me with an enticing offer to end it just for him. It should be poliltely refused by PM, and let them all fight it out. Since we're a tight group here, this should be a clear and agreed upon thing, especially as we get bigger, the newer and less well known members should have a fair shake at everything, it's not a hierarchy at Phoenix. I and some you guys will probably bring in people from other places to bid, so this can get tricky......cont.....

cont......These peeps might have just a few posts, but are known to others that have been here awhile (should the 'sponsoring' long time member who knows them vouche by PM to the seller?) Like "Hey Lee, this guy 'gentry' is a well respected member at the JBL site, with 50 member buys under his belt, and has feedback there for you to check out." that way the seller knows 'gentry' is good to go. That's a tricky area, since we never really know anybody that well (besides us here). It's just my 2 pennies on decorum. Some sites have a minimum 50 posts and 6 month as a member to bid rule, we could do that as well, but I think at a later time when our membership is higher. For now starting out with just a few people, i suggest we use my vouch for the new person idea and Larry's 'back out of a winning bid and your out of the game for good' rule.

But it must be fair for all bidders, however the rules wind up being. that's all from me for now.

Still puts folks in different time zones at a disadvantage or is that not an issue. Up to the seller to have a stop time reasonably fair???

Yep, seller should pick a time, night/day, weekend/weekday, whatever they want. It's up to the buyer to pay attention, since snipes won't work. But let's be serious, nothing is gonna br snipable in the begining :spiderman:
