    Update on my phono preamp:

Correct - I would certainly switch at line level / post phono preamp, and then send to the C1. I like the idea of using a balanced line for the long-ish run. Thanks Jim

    Update on my phono preamp:

I'm thinking about building a shelving system for the 4 turntables that I seem to have accumulated over the years and recently repaired to be used in the rotation once again. I'm considering to build a cabinet to house the turntables, but then there will be an issue of having to separate the...

It's Here - Thanks WOPL Sniffer!

Not sure what year your truck is, but my '12 Sierra was really not too bad to pop those panels off. Just be sure to remove any screws along the lower edge and ashtray mounting screws first. You might find some hits on YouTube or the https://www.silveradosierra.com/ website

    Update on my phono preamp:

Thanks Wyn - I read the book but your comment clarifies what I was looking for. That's where I ended up setting the switches but wanted ensure I wasn't missing anything.

How Well Carbon Fiber and Other Fibers Shield Radio Waves

100% true by experience. We use data acquisition devices in our track cars. Many guys have replaced their sunroof mechanisms (a very heavy and high pendulum weight hardware cost when you consider the tracks, motor, panel, etc) with a carbon fiber panel. The panels are relatively small but...

    Update on my phono preamp:

As of yesterday I joined the "Pyxi Club" ! Previously I had tried the Mani2 preamp but found the output of the Mani to be way too low. The Pyxi's 65dB output has made a significant improvement in listening volume, even with the super-low output Ortofon MC10. The overall sound stage, imaging...

You're going to love retirement! The most important things are as follow...throw the TV out the window, have a plan to do what YOU want to do every day, have a hobby (you have that covered just fine now!), volunteer or do fun things with people you like, and most importantly: Throw out the TV ...

I still like my Hafler D110 preamp. very quiet...but had some switch noises that I fixed. Super nice tone controls! great dynamic range

I believe the coil is the inductor (L1) part of an LC filter that works with C8 at the speaker output. The filter rolls off the very high frequencies to help keep the amp stable. Picture of the circuit schematic for reference…

    Update on my phono preamp:

Novice question here ... I have an old Ortofon MC10 cartridge going into a Mani-2 with I&O gain set to "H" for 60db gain. The C1's volume control needs to be at about 3 O'clock for my listening preference - and not much gain left after that. Does the Pyxi give higher output than 60db?

It sure did ... we hand-wrapped that solid white wire around one of the smaller diameter caps as a form and then stretched it over the output caps. The originals were much larger diameter - as were most older caps back in the 70s

Better stock up for your DBT

Wasn't this supposed to happen long ago ... 100watt bulbs were supposed to be phased out first ... then 75watts, etc. I can see a black market opening up for old style bulbs LOL. Our tax dollars at work ... smh

    PL700II Hum/Buzz volume control issue

Good eye, George! Sure looks like some cold solder joints, at a minimum. I'd take a minute and put my magnifiers on...and reflow for starters.

As they say about hindsight. I read your post and can identify 100% with audio stuff in the late 70s and into the 80s, until I became a homeowner and all my money went a whole different direction! In retrospect, the house was a far better investment than most of the stereo stuff I...
