    Rega Planar 3 Upgrade(?) path

That is unfortunate, I would go stir crazy without a functional table, or maybe just listen to the digital rips done from the collection.

Comparing battery-powered phono pre-amps, from RS ($$) to ASR ($$$$) ... and beyond!

Will sacrifice one as a guinea pig once I have multiple units :)

Comparing battery-powered phono pre-amps, from RS ($$) to ASR ($$$$) ... and beyond!

I'm almost tempted to pull the cheap battery phono pre apart to see if any upgrades can be done, but that would require desoldering of the rca jacks and switch etc, not simple to just pull the board out so will leave as is. If anyone pulls one apart, please post a pic so we can see what...

Comparing battery-powered phono pre-amps, from RS ($$) to ASR ($$$$) ... and beyond!

Might get a couple more of these battery powered phono pres, then I can switch between the 3 turntables using a switch box at line level. I have to manually connect them to the Tubebox DS which is a little inconvenient at times. Also that will give me an option to run the 4th turntable from a...

    Rega Planar 3 Upgrade(?) path

AC motors are very accurate in speed, provided that the hertz from the supply is stable. I hear its difficult to change the speed of AC motors because it involves changing the hertz, requiring an expensive speed box. At least to my limited knowledge. Correct me if I'm wrong. The Thorens TD 160...

    Rega Planar 3 Upgrade(?) path

Is it possible to upgrade to an external power supply/speed control box? I mention this because someone I knew via youtube upgraded the PSU on his Rega RP6. Is the drive motor AC or DC?

Comparing battery-powered phono pre-amps, from RS ($$) to ASR ($$$$) ... and beyond!

Interesting info there, funny how this thread appeared today. George (Pennysdad) recommended an $18 phono preamp which runs off a 9 volt battery (Thank you George!) I purchased one which arrived a couple of days ago. I didnt think it would be any good, but after hooking it up, wow, for $18 this...

Derek92994's 700 Ser II White Oak conversion

Going to buy an Audio Technica VM540ML cartridge next pay. The reason? The cartridge that I use for the AT440MLa and AT150MLX has a channel imbalance and I have had enough of using the balance control. Also the reviews say there are some nice improvements with this cart. The 440 and 150 Stylus...

Derek92994's 700 Ser II White Oak conversion

Absolutely, I could only stand the combo mid range/tweeters on the Bic RTR's for so long. Talk about Squarking, even with them turned right down.

Since removing the 4 caps from the backplane, the amp does not swing the meters on power up anymore, a damn good sign.
