AC motors are very accurate in speed, provided that the hertz from the supply is stable. I hear its difficult to change the speed of AC motors because it involves changing the hertz, requiring an expensive speed box. At least to my limited knowledge. Correct me if I'm wrong. The Thorens TD 160...

Absolutely, I could only stand the combo mid range/tweeters on the Bic RTR's for so long. Talk about Squarking, even with them turned right down.

Since removing the 4 caps from the backplane, the amp does not swing the meters on power up anymore, a damn good sign.
