    Interesting piece of PL history

The back of that Pink Floyd amp looked very PL700-esque, had the same tranny and heatsinks.

Some Peoples Kids PL400 lighting DIY

I used part of a string of miniature Christmas lights to light up the dial of a Soundesign receiver when I was teen aged. Looked good and nothing of value was ruined :P

    700 Series II Build

A L T E C L T E C Or Dahlquitst DQ-10s do good in a big room and a 700 has more than enough oomph to make them sound good. I did stack 8 JBL theater surround speakers into line arrays, wired in series-parallel to get 8 ohms and ran them with my 4 fin WOPL 400. it did run warm to the touch but...

Isolated Variable Transformers? Or Separate Iso and Variac? Plus a Newbie Tech Question

I have a ONEAC 500 va iso transformer I picked up for hot chassis radios/TVs, a cheapo variac I bought for my WOPL builds, and the dim bulb tester. Good to have all three with all the questionable crap I bring home.....

    Parts left from WOPL builds

The 700B inserts look enticing. I'm surprised the French guy that was asking about them a few months ago hasn't popped in. I'd just leave the grandma/grandma 700II the way it is lol

    Calibrating a deck recording

I had to put a new bias pot (the external one) on my Nak BX-300. Before I replaced it I could bias TDK D (1990s), TDK SA (any vintage), Maxell XLII (any?), Sony Metal XR (2000s) just fine but any true CrO2 tape wouldn't bias correctly. I should also try a few more tapes I had touble with (80s...

    Nichicon Audio Grade Capacitors Discontinued?

In recent months when going to do recapping on some of my crap I noticed the lack of availability for my go-to capacitors (Nichicon FG, Muse, KW). My sources are Mouser and Digi-Key. Is this some kind of conspiracy or are regular electrolytic capacitors "good enough"? I looked at threads on...

    Sony TC-K71 Debauchery

I finally got to A/B with the Nak BX-300. Very very close. The Nak edges it out slightly in the high frequencies and has a lower noise floor. Still a nice deck though. Any of you weirdos wanna do a Ferrichrome traveling tape?

    Tech Recs

Yeah I won't work on your tape deck. See debauchery thread for reference. I also omit components, see my WOPL threads lol

    700 Series II Build

The black anodized faceplates with the cylon meters kinda have a cyberpunk vibe to 'em. would look good in a system with Nakamichi BX/RX/Dragon decks, an early Yamaha CD player, Teac X2000R.........
