    Cassette lovers; why?

I'm looking at the TC-K71 tonight, thinking that a wholesale recap is a waste of time. Anything 4.7uf and above is within spec and low ESR. All the >1uf lytics should be film types anyways. The transport needs belts/lube/cleaning too

    My WOPL 700 Containment Thread

Did more tweaking to the EQ last night, I've got er dialed in (by ear anyways). I'm using some tracks off of Primus's Pork Soda, very dynamic, the 700 sounds very similar to the 400 on the woofers but offers more "oomph". I've got a 16ga power cord coming for the 700 as all my IECs/NEMA 5-15s...

    Hi from Chris Cables

Welcome Chris! You'll find we're pretty easy going around here.

    My WOPL 700 Containment Thread

On the bench hooked to the JBL L15s you couldn't hear any noise, I think the hiss I have is coming from the MiniDSP. I may switch that to a linear power supply.....

    My WOPL 700 Containment Thread

It's quieter (lower noise floor) that my 400. I'm thinking about cleaning up the wiring on the 400 and adding that triac power switch.....

    My WOPL 700 Containment Thread

First impressions are good. I'm still tweaking the levels/eq cuz I moved the 400 to the tweeters and it has more gain than the 300B

Finally took some time to introduce myself

Welcome! I WOPL'd a 400 back in '22 and am finishing up a 700B currently. Gonna be bi-amping/active crossover-ing some Altecs with em. All hail the mighty WOPL!

All transistors in, no kaboom. Final test and first listen will come later. I've gotta meet up with friends for cold snack time (more important)

Found it. R2 (1 ohm 1/4 watt) not populated on the right channel back plane board. Hiding underneath that emitter resistor. That ties right in to the bias circuit. Soldered that in and I have healthy bias voltage on the right channel. Lol.

    700II On/Off Switch ?

That happened to that Adcom GFA-555 I had. My PL700 build included Don's triac switch so I wouldn't burn/weld the factory one....

Ok, I'll check Q6/Q9 when I get home. The voltages across the 47 ohm resistors went between .8 an 1 volts when turning the bias pot.

    My WOPL 700 Containment Thread

Are Q6 and Q9 supposed to get warm during the quick check procedure? I looked over the right back plane and didn't see anything obvious. I'm thinking I made a bad connection somewhere.......

    My WOPL 700 Containment Thread

Did the quick test procedure on the right side of the control board. everything checks out there except Q6 and Q9 get pretty warm. maybe the right backplane is suspect?
