George, if it helps to defray this time of sadness, I have been enjoying the new McCartney CD. There was one tune I heard on the radio I was sure it sounded like David Bowie and it turns out it was Paul M: Track 8 "Everybody Out There." This CD is loaded with gems.

His previous album, "Memory Almost Full", is a little more Beatle-esque if you know wot I mean.
Some neat songs on that one too.

Well today I'm more upset than anything….
I just found out one of my beloved Sulphur Crested Cockatoos is dying of a nasty thing called Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psittacine_beak_and_feather_disease
It was so quick to come on, and now he's so sick, and I'm so saddened that I might never see him anymore sooner than later and he's just going to fly away and die somewhere a horrible death, and I can't help him.
He was my most favourite, as he was the friendliest and most affectionate and allowed me to even give him scratches and even chat.
This is just too heartbreaking……..

Damn G - what a shame. That is one of those devastating bird diseases - and it's contagious. Hopefully the other guys fair well.

Yes D, and that's wot's terrorising my mind the most right now, and that is my other 5 probably will catch it.
It's bound to happen. It's gonna be one after the other now.
They'll be all dead, and I'll be devastated……
Testing times ahead I feel.
It's just not fair that such beautiful birds should suffer such a fate, and there's just nothing I can do about it.
I feel so useless…...

… on a lighter note, i got my unbalanced in to balanced out thingamajig today.
it's made an unbelievable difference. (although it's exactly wot i expected.)
nice quiet balanced lines straight to my brystons from my dac, and a 'fat as all hell' signal.

Cool - but you know if you balanced it first you wouldn't have to unbalance it and then rebalance it - or something like that. Glad you got it working!

my iMac goes fibre optic to my dac.
the dac's unbalanced out, which then goes to the 'black box' then balanced to my brystons.
no anything else. it's about as direct as i can make it, without having to resort to headphone/line out of the iMac.

Not all of the parrot family will succumb to this so let's hope your guys can get through this intact. A real bummer though.

I contacted Wildlife Rescue, and we're gonna chat tomorrow, but poor Cocky-1 may have to be captured and euthanised to save the flock. NOW I feel really really bad. I shall be grieving (and feeling very very guilty) for his loss for a long time to come. I so hate this sh*t.

I hear you G. You've got to look at it in the positive sense tho... If you can save five that would be a great thing even though the one that is the most tame will be lost. Remember that he will not suffer as much if he is captured first. We've lost a couple of rescue dogs to cancer and that was devastating - but now we have three more rescues dogs - and a rescue cat so I see that as a positive. I'd drop a boob bomb about now but that's for another thread.
