Anybody looking for more ''alternative'' guitar theatrics should check out this album (also available on vinyl) from the early 1990s.

I really like the album title - it cracked me up. I'll have to look this one up as I recognize a number of the bands/artists on it. Thanks.

Miles,

Remind me again how many headphones you have...
Got some new ones again......

But the counter still says 14, I became these excellent new AKG k271 cans with a trade.... Some of the Sony's I don't use anymore had to go.

The noise cancelling feature on this 271 is brilliant!

Another nice pair of headphones, Miles. Do you still have more Sonys than AKGs?

Bought a set of the AKG 240S. S is for Studio. Made in China. 55 ohm. iPod at max volume doesn't equal the Shure ear-buds I normally use. It is quite a bit less.
AKG 240 headphones need a good headphone amp to drive them. An iPod doesn't come close in providing the juice for good sound reproduction. Try them on your home system components, instead, Doug.

Nando,

There's a small correction needed in here...

The classic K240 you have has an impedance of 600 Ohm which is indeed hard to drive on an iPod thing, that's the same with my K240DF's...
However, the newer versions (240 mkII) have a much lower impedance of just 55 Ohm, and that makes a real difference.....

For now:

I'm listening to the WAV 96-24 master files of my Yello mixtape on this INCREDIBLE BARGAIN!!! as it comes to headphones.....

The Superlux HD 681.....

Paid just €19,- !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for them new, and they will sweep the floor with a lot of much more expensive headphones on the market today!

Believe me, I've used and tested a lot of different headphones in my life, but these ones are amazing!

Thanks for the info, Miles. Yes, my old K240s are 600 ohm models, and Doug's are only 55 ohm.

Sorry about that, Doug. I guess your Shure ear-buds are more efficient than the AKG 240S headphones.

Richard Wright's "Wet Dream" is now on.... (WAV 96-24) Sony pcm-m10 in combination with the cheap HD 681, 32 Ohm cans...

This is a delight........

Nando,

The 240 Studio model is marketed as being "High effiency and wide dynamic range, ideally suited for mobile use, too." It shows a picture of mobile devices on the box. They come with a 1/8 plug on the cord. You screw on the 1/8 adapter to use it that fashion.

AKG 240 studio - 55 ohm sensitivity 91dB

The two different buds I use on the iPod are:
Shure SE210 buds - 26 ohm sensitivity 114dB
Shure E2c buds - 16 ohm sensitivity 105 dB

They sound fine, just on the iPod, not at the volume I'm accustomed to. What's that you say? Doug

That album is one of my favourite ones. I recorded that album in its entirety back some time ago for Daren. Before that, the odd track from "Wet Dream" would be chosen for a few of my mix tape recordings.

This is playback of his tape before I sent it off to Daren:

I'm so pleased I discovered this record Nando.

A good album that I also hope to eventually pick up on CD at some point.
