no wonder..... it's got tea-candles in it!
wot? oh! they're caps that someone marked with a red pen. had me fooled there for a minute. :confused2:
:laughing9: That's Hilarious, I took another look at the photo and it does give an optical illusion of tea-candles. Both units have those markings on the caps, must be a factory thing. I shall be hooking the 2nd unit up to some speakers tomorrow to test, and if it works will integrate it on top of the cabinet. Can't wait to see two of them side by side, the displays on them are epic. I need another pair of 12 inch speakers, one step at a time, still poor and will be for a while even though I'm earning minimum wage (cough).

get something smaller, and run it harder. JBL's always sound best just before they blow up.
You just need to figure out where that is, then back off a notch.
if u can afford to make modest deals, go talk to this guy, and offer him $80.

You can get 'em posted or couriered for less than $20.
They've been listed and failed twice now.

Good advice, thank you. I do have two technics SB-CD933 8's which sound more punchy than my current 12's. I'll message him.

Questions:

1. The pioneer vsx 9500s is rated at 125 watts per channel. Does this mean that all 4 main channels deliver 125 watts?
2. Would it be an advantage if I drive the two JBLs on 1 amp and the two Technics on the other (both are have 8 inch drivers)

You'll need a Pioneer expert to answer your first question, but for the second, it just all depends on the answer to the first question.

I'm a bit of a 10" fan, myself, but I do enjoy the bigger ones too, it's just that they make so much noise the louder you turn 'em up! Go figure.
Seriously tho', 10" have better bass control, IF they have big voice-coils. They're faster than 15's (and 18's of course) due to less mass to try and 'momentum-alise", if ya know wot I mean?
2x 10" kills 1x 15" by more than a factor of 2. (nah, I dunno wot that means either, but it sounds impressive, and I just made it up.)

.... and then the SPL's go up, and up!

Plus I was just trying to make suggestions that would keep within Derek's budget Lee.
He sounds as poor as I am. :(
Yeah I am poor but that's what happens when you don't work for a while and then it takes you over 2 months to get a job. Had a meltdown from the previous job position. Thankful to have a job now in the current climate, the pay just sucks, but beggars cant be choosers.

No leisure time yesterday, really sucks. Back to work in 30 minutes to clean the meat cooker, first time for me so hopefully I don't break it :laughing9:

But I get home at around 10am so that's the bonus, should have that 2nd amp dialed in by then. No response from the JBL man as yet.

World class clean power is only a WOPL away...
.... which is fine if you live on the 'other' side of the planet!!!!!

That sort of thing is wayyyy beyond my capabilities now.
I can't see very well anymore, and my hands tremble too much to use an iron.
.... and to buy one and import it would be soooooo expensive.

So Lee, maybe you should of said, WOPL class clean power, is only a World away. :confused2:

Maybe Derek could have a go, but you need a PL700 (or similar) to start with..... :(

Just get some good magnifiers for the eyeballs to see what you're working on. I've read that most people's hands shake out of phase so if you hold the item you're soldering with your left hand and solder with your right (I'm assuming you're a righty) the area that you're attempting to solder doesn't move relative to both hands. Simple! Nice clean joint everytime. :confused2:

I've got magnifiers, but after a while, (and this has only started to happen in the last 6 months), but they make me dizzy now.
I have already adopted that soldering technique Dennis, but some things are still just too awkward nowadays, especially when you're holding the solder with your mouth.
Add to that, the inability to use my right arm properly at the moment, as I'm still recovering from torn ligaments in my right shoulder, and that will take another 6 months at least!
I'm doomed...... :sad2:
