I set the Model ONE time machine to 1972 / 1973 and these two classics showed up.
Time for a little Southern Blues / Rock ….. Georgia Peach Music.

Bought both of these LP’s when they came out. Saw these guys in concert several times,
Twice when Duane was still alive….truly one of my favorite bands.
Playin’ them loud !

If that meter range switch is in the center position, you were not kidding about playing it loud!

Getting into the Red side of the VU meter on a Model ONE will make some serious dB's

Hi Eric,
I have it set to the -20db position, but running Klipsch LaScalas (1 watt = 105db) it is quite impressive !
I have a REL subwoofer in the system and the SPL when in the red is amazing. :D
I could not be more pleased with the Model ONE, dead quiet at idle, between tracks and incredible headroom.
I really enjoyed building this Model ONE, and listening is a real treat every time I play something, whether vinyl, CD or streaming.
My brother calls it the "Wow" machine, because listening will always trigger at least one "Wow" out loud from whoever is listening.
I often utter an expletive or two myself at different passages, it impresses me every day. I have said it many times.....Joe really hit a Home Run
with the Model ONE.

This one’s for Lee: :D

Bob B. scored a very nice Spirit CD collection the other day, and this album was mentioned.
I set the Model ONE for 1972 and this classic popped up.
I bought this in 1972.....Spirit has always been one of my favorites and all their developments....
Randy California and a great album, played loud.
When Randy left Spirit in 1971, he started a new band that he called “Helicopter”.
The name “Helicopter” was not well received as they started to play the California clubs.
They were billed as “Helicopter” for their debut at the Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood and the
booking secretary of the Whiskey laughed at the name, and suggested something more memorable,
such as “Captain Copter and the Whirlybirds”…….and Randy liked it, but changed it to Kapt. Kopter
and the Twirly Birds…..and the rest is history. Great guitar.
This is a great listen:

Kapt. Kopter and the (Fabulous) Twirly Birds

I just received this LP as a gift from my nephew.
He bought this 2019 version, and knew that I would also like it, so he purchased another for me.
I have the original 1962 Mono release, Herbie Hancocks’ debut album.
My nephew is the guy that I built one of my 700b’s for when he graduated with his Masters
Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He wanted to hear this version on the Model ONE. (The “WOW” Machine).
I opened it, and to both our surprise, it was White vinyl. I cannot find any of these that are listed as being pressed on White vinyl, so this appears to be an odd one. He bought it in a local record shop, same place as he got his version, also 80th anniversary of Blue Note, pressed in Germany, but his is Black vinyl.
He was indeed impressed, as was I, at the superb detail through the Model ONE. The Model One is simply amazing !! Personally, I am not a fan of colored vinyl, but have it on LP’s back into the late 40’s, I will always go out of my way to get a black vinyl copy of an LP. If they are dirty/dusty etc, it’s just easier to see on black vinyl. This is a super nice pressing of a great LP. Freddie Hubbard is on Trumpet, and Dexter Gordon on Sax. My nephew did “borrow” my original 1962 version….and I do not loan any of my recordings out as a rule. His 700b has not missed a beat since I built it for him with the full WOPL treatment.

Herbie Hancock – Takin’ Off
Blue Note ST-84109 -- Stereo
Blue Note 80 Vinyl Reissue Series 180 gram
Released in 2019 – Germany -- White Vinyl
Original Release May, 1962 (Hancock’s Debut LP)
Original Rudy van Gelder Recording
