Hey, I had one those, it was the Levi's special with blue exterior and upholstery of Levi denim blue. 6 cylinder, 3speed manual with overdrive, not a nice driving car but when it's all you can afford...
I worked in engine assembly in the 70's at American Motors building the 232 cubic inch 6 cylinder. I'm surprised they even ran after watching some of the clowns smashing crankshaft into the bearings

The Gremlin X I pulled the Saginaw PS box from had the 304 ci V8, stripes, and of course, those weird Gremlin badges. Had the Collier Motors AMC dealer sticker on the back. At the time I was living in Pikeville NC and working at Seymour Johnson AFB. The Gremlin was in a private junkyard just outside the airbases rear gate.
Collier Motors was about 4 miles up the road from me, and although it had been semi closed for many years, they at the time, had a few AMX and Javelins on the property,
Collier Motors has popped up on Google News a few times recently, as they've been selling the AMXs, and other cars. American Pickers filmed there. Mike and Frank bought some sports car.

That private junkyard was like Sanford and Son. The old black man had collected a amazing collection of unique cars. His son lived on the property in a old run down house and smoked too much weed and drank excessively. The son would sell anything on the yard, and the father was constantly pissed at his son. I almost bought a 500 ci Caddy motor from a Eldorado there for the Jeep, but found a 454 Chev up in Rocky Mount. I still have a 1967 Chev PU bed and frame made into a trailer from there. They also had one of those white Hurst Ramblers. But then, this was 30 years ago!

So found the issues. These old Dell power cords are funky. They came with the XPS 700, 710, or 720 with the 1000 watt power supply. I've got 2 XPS 700s and 2 720s and they all suffered from intermittent restarts. Now I know why. I can slightly move that cords end plug and watch the voltage drop.
Second issue is the Radio Shack True RMS meter. It's junk, gives a totally different result each time I take a reading. I'll keep the leads and new batteries, rest is going in trash
Going to order some new cords, and peruse the bay for another Fluke and a decent Simpson 260 or 270 analog meter.
The 12 VAC is right on the money if I slightly twist the cord end to make good contact.

I got the Fluke 87V and have already been through a set of batteries. It is serving me well.

Amen, that's how it usually works. And, taking a week off to think about it also helps. The hours I've wasted trying different ram sticks and drivers on those old computers in the past are huge. Bad cord ends. Think I'll try seeing if I can't bend the contacts out some before tossing them.

I got the Fluke 87V and have already been through a set of batteries. It is serving me well.
Yeah man. That Fluke 77 BN I have is the same model I used throughout the end of my military career. Accurate and bullet proof. I just put in a offer for another.
I'm looking at learning highly accurate FM tuner alignment and I'll need two alike meters and a big dial analog.

I think if you’re doing tuner alignments, you need repeatability and accuracy. That may mean sending the meter out for calibration.

For 90% of things, stock is good enough; however, I would think an alignment would need that extra ten percent goodness…

Got the DC Protect board installed. Ran out of zip ties so that's all for tonight. The flying yellow wires are the amps output + wires, the grey are the amps output - wires. The grey - wires solder into the copper buss bar, those extra holes I drilled.
The DC Protect also gets two red AC wires from the rectifier and a additional black ground wire from the buss bar. The 400 DC Protect is different.

Quite a bit different.....
Trying to keep the wiring elevated between the back plains and control board. All the AC in one bundle, B+ and - and output grounds in another. I'll have a smaller bundle somewhat across the top with meter wiring that catches that candy cane colored AC switch wiring.
I'm very open to suggestions on improving wire routing. No problem with changing it. Have extra wire to redo any of it and all winter. Was considering running the output grounds across the top to the DCP, but looking at photos of other builds, they're run across the bottom.
If anyone has suggestions, please do. Those flying yellow + output wires will be adjusted once the control board is installed.
