Gary: Did you get the Pioneer PL-630 from the Turntable Shop in N. Vancouver? If you had mentioned it before, I had forgotten.
One of my most recently-acquired record changers is this Garrard Laboratory Series Type A70.

Nando.
Yes, got it from Nick - a trade I made. He got a Dual 701, Garrard Zero 100, JVC QL-A2, Toshiba SR-F255 (with a brand new lid) and a CEC (branded Electra) BD2000. All working and all with good cartridges. I felt I had too many tables and a quick trade of 5 for 1 made sense. Swapping out tables was too much like work.
More like 6 for 1 because prior to this, he talked me out of a first run Dual 1009 to replace a customer's unit that had an "accident " in his shop. We never did settle up on that one before making the trade.
I remember him and/or Connor being real keen on getting the CEC/Electra that I forgot in the first load. According to Connor, once the vinyl was stripped off the base, whatever wood the factory used in Japan came up real nice sanded and clear coated. I saw the end result and must admit it looked pretty good.
Apparently, that PL-630 sat for several months with no customer interest because of "too little wood". Tag price was $675. My guess is he got $1500 or more for the those I left him. Granted he had to invest time/money in shining some up and maybe some new lids. No matter, I'm sure he did OK on the deal.
But, possessing the obsessive gene as I do, my turntable number rose up so I'm back to square one again.
Nice Garrard BTW. It looks worth having.
