I gotta do some research, the ADC was a low mass cart to match the low mass arm, so I really don't know what else would be prime for it...

What are/were the dimensions of that lid? I've been looking for a similar Denon cover for you, you can have one custom made for you or maybe organdonorparts.com can help. I found several parts for at least four turntables there, stopped just shy of being able to get an SL-1800 strobe for my 1360, if that was the problem. I found the top part of the armrest for the Sony PS-4300 Ron sold me as well and hopefully I can manage to joint the two halves on my turntable and then I still have to find the bottom panel that got misplaced (possibly by a family member who was helping around here).

That very low mass arm wants a very high compliance cartridge for best results in the arm resonance category. There are a few out there but no much that is as high in compliance as some of those cartridges from back when the ∞BW was commonly available. I like that arm but have only used them, never owned one.

We haven't seen but a small glimpse of the dust cover. How totaled is it? There are a couple places that can make one if there isn't one out on the market.

Excellent find Lee. I am thrilled that you might get into vinyl. I have a friend in Jacksonville who rebuilds tables....and has a guy that makes dustcovers for him. If you can get the exact dimensions, I can get him to give us a price, but he usually sell them for 99 bucks...

I would recommend you step up to the plate on replacement styli. Go to the Jico website and see what they have. I know that you have a rare beast there, and she deserves to be brought back to life.

I'm not sure exactly which ADC you have, but above is the link to Jico offerings for ADC carts. Let me know if I can help you in any way man..

The XLM was often a choice for the Black Widow back in the day as it is a high compliance cart..

I'm not dissing that Denon table, my main TT is a Denon DP-755, a step down from yours. BUT that arm ! ! ! I vividly remember when those Black Widows came out. I couldn't afford one at the time and I've always regretted it. They're just unobtainable now days.

Here's a link to the vinylengine.com page for those (I hope). Looks like there were 2 version of that arm. Who knew? I can't remember a lighter arm. Definitely will need a high compliance cart.

Actually, this page might be just what you're looking for:

Jico does make a Shibata stylus for the ADC Super XLM II. Probably a screaming bargain at 128 bucks.. It's too bad they don't make an SAS for it, but I'll bet the Shibata sounds as good as one..

I'll bet that is the Cartridge you have...but I can't wait to see ...

Here is the stylus pic..

I believe there are three versions of the BW.
The early stepped aluminum tube
the stepped graphite tube and
the smooth graphite tube.

The price today (adjusted) is way less than the sold for new (~$400-500 vs. 200-250 back then). They pop up all the time. This doesn't mean they are obtainable, just not outrageous for what they are. Hard part is finding the great cartridges to use with such a low mass arm.

[TD="colspan: 2, align: left"][FONT=&quot]Partnered with the best and staunchly independent Japanese phono cartridge designer of the day, ADC developed several ground-breaking cartridges that were keenly focused on low resonant materials for the cartridge body, and electrical construction that emphasized imaging and phase coherency in the Z, Y, and X planes (depth, height, and width).

The ADC Astrion is the first serious product of this low resonant series. The Astrion was built and distributed in the US as a “Statement†piece that ended the era of the low mass induced magnet XLM-type designs.

This is, however, no XLM! The cartridge body is made of a low resonant polycarbonate (similar to what the designer of this cartridge uses today in his current designs). The cantilever is a laser-etched solid clear sapphire rod, and the stylus is an extremely low mass, line contact design.

When mated correctly with a high mass tonearm, this cartridge is capable of a highly detailed, smooth, neutral, highly focused wide-bandwidth sound that was once thought only achievable with a top level Moving Coil.

Production and distribution of this cartridge was extremely limited.
Specs are as follows:
Output = 4.25 mv,
channel separation - 30db,
tracking force = 1.2grams +/-.2 grams,
cartridge weight = 5.7 grams,

I still haven't determined if the Jico will fit, but if it does, it may be the best solution for a stylus...Otherwise you may need to go for a different cartridge..

This stylus "nudie" is almost pornographic...

Kevin, at KAB is probably going to be the go-to guy on this, as he sold his last NOS ADC Astrion a year ago....(he may still have private stock....who knows...)
