Good meter, you want to check for DC from the pre amp at the output of the pre-amp or if you can't find some old patch cords to hook to check at the inputs of the amp with the pre-amp hooked to the amp.

I don't think the meter can detect DC on an AC circuit above a certain AC voltage, check your meter specs...

With my Fluke 179, anything above 250millivolt AC on the output of a WOPL and the meter set on DC it's all over the place...VERY hard to detect DC in an AC stream....that's why DC offset is checked with nothing hooked to the amp.....

I agree trying to get a DC reading on an AC circuit is near impossible but I had a request to do it so I went ahead and did it to post the results here

I think pads 1 and 2 is the same as checking at the amp inputs as the wires from the inputs go to pads 1 and 2... no??

" check your meter specs..."
would have to find that online I bought that meter over 15 years ago not a clue what ever happened to the manual

I checked both I did output at speaker terminals and the inputs at pads 1 and 2 both left and right

Left pad 1&2 bouncing between 2.10 & .055 mv DC
Right pad 1&2 bouncing between 2.80 & .600 mv DC​

My bad, I see that now. See if you can get a reading on the pre amp outputs without it hooked to the amp, pre-amp on, NO inputs selected, if possible, if not select an input that has nothing hooked to it...tone controls off, loudness off, volume down...

Yep, correct.

Did you wind up with a signal generator that can go to 10hz , or close to it?

Tomorrow we will feed each channel a 10hz signal and start at 150 millivolts input and go up until we trip the DCP, WHILE you monitor the output with your meter on AC volts.....

No, I got it here and only checked to see if it put a signal out... I have not had a chance to play around with it yet Would I be looking for volts it puts out?

Yeah, I see it has a low/high output switch, was hoping it puts out over a volt in high mode...

Looks like plenty of voltage, did you get some cables with it?? And it would still be nice to check output voltage....

No cables came with it but looks like banana plug.. I have some banana plug cables out their with alligator clips I will check the voltage output on it

I have a bit to do tomorrow.. our home insurance Co. is busting my balls have been all summer I have a 100+ year old house and when they built them back then they used what ever they could get their hands on for windows so it had all different size windows when we bought it I replaced all the windows with new double pane vinyl windows and used all the same size which meant I had to frame off all the opening for the new windows the new replacement windows don't use the 1 X 4" boards around the windows they have a U channel all the way around them to slide the siding under it... Well when I finished putting the new windows in I had a gap of about 4 to 6" all around the windows between the new window frames and the siding I put stuff called Vycor it is a rubber weather sealer that comes in rolls with a sticky side to stick to the walls I used this to keep water out and it worked well no water ever came is so I left it at that for a couple years and moved on to other work..

I had planned to replace the wood clapboard siding with vinyl siding eventually... well the insurance agent decided to screw with me and put in to have us fully inspected inside and outside the house.. we have owned this house for 11 years now and never put in a claim we only have 4 years left and it will be paid off.... any way they jumped on me about the clapboard missing around the windows so I spent all summer replacing that along with all other siding that was cracked or warped primed everything and painted nearly the whole house they came out to reinspect and take pics

Our house only has a crawl space under it it sits on ledge so it has skirting all the way around it they insurance company decided I needed to put siding on the skirting... who ever heard of having to side skirting?? any way under threat of them dropping our coverage I side the skirting they come back more pics

when we got the house I put an addition on the back of the house to install a new boiler in and a new oil tank we poured a concrete slab and built the enclosure for the new furnace and oil tank I used exterior plywood type stuff and painted it well the insurance company now wants that sided as well I got the siding up today on it and plan to prime it tomorrow so I can paint it monday then they will come back to take more pics........
