OOKLA says I'm hogging the passing lane at around 2.75 Mbps the last time I checked the other day but I can still kick ass because it's fully dependent of page loading.

I don't know what 15-100 Mbps or even 'Gigabit' or whatever speeds mean unless you are the NSA or Russians.

It's a bit asinine if your computer is tuned up and has enough RAM. Even THIS ancient thing at 13 years old will zip about with 3 GB of proper RAM.

In that aspect Windows 7 can really shine.

PS The NSA is just lonely and looking for better porn than Google search gives them/

MS is still pushing win10 but they probably went sbout it all wrong. I think the latest firgures show win 10 with 23% share and win 7 with 47% share. Now that they want to charge for it, I'll bet the adoption rate drastically drops.

Most people usually pull the labels off the devices when setting them up. Nothing wrong with leaving them on though.

Had a chance to run that memory test yet, Lee? I'd do that for good measure, just in case.

Man speaking of damn 'puters.... I had just this month broke down and did my latest "gut and replace" upgrade. New ASUS MB, 32G of RAM, and an 8 core 4G AMD proc. Going good until last Sunday. I hear this "sprong" or whatever kind of clatter, and I figure it's just something falling off the desk onto the computer and think nothing else of it.

Sunday evening I sit down and get to work on something, when all of a sudden.. it powers down. Hit the button.. powers back up for 10 seconds, then right back off.

One of the damn tabs holding the CPU heatsink clamp broke off, and basically the CPU was trucking along at 4G with no heatsink. Could have damaged the CPU easily, surprised it didn't. Had to rob from the old MB... geesh.

Damn gremlins.. and shoddy quality nowadays..

These days, Intel procs self throttle if they hit the Tcase limit so you would just suffer performance loss until the heatsink got repaired. The VID bits to the VRD trigger a lower proc voltage when it goes into distress like that.

Gotta be more than 4 gig eh??
Go into Control Panel, under System & Security, then under System. It should tell you how much ram your rig recognizes as installed along with Windows versions and such.
