Just got a special CD from England today, I was hoping it would arrive before Lee and Jani come to visit, I'm not sayin' anything else except it's a very well recorded Live show and is going to rock their last good nerve
Roy Ayers Ubiquity - Change Up The Groove
(1974, Polydor) STERLING RL in the deadwax, mastered by Robert Ludwig
This is mostly too smooth, I need some grit in my cup of tea. Some funky moments and some vibraphone to listen to while taking a break from the awesomeness that is this years NCAA basketball tournament march madness.
3/4 of my final four picks in my bracket are still going but the outer branches are badly broken by several upsets including N. Iowa's buzzer beater finish over Texas last night:
Didn't see that coming in a million years. I had MSU in the title game so that's the 1/4 quarter of my bracket that is toast.
Also did not see SF Austin beating West Virginia - that guy with the bad haircut on SFA is impressive (Walkup). I had Gonzaga making it to the sweet 16, so that's going right.
Michael Nesmith - From A Radio Engine To The Photon Wing
(1977, Pacific Arts)
A fun find at a Goodwill thrift store yesterday for 50cents, green tags were 50% off. I think I have all the 70's Nesmith solo LPs and may already have this one, but it's been awhile since I've listened. Great songs with profound & witty lyrics - I forgot how enjoyable these Nesmith LPs are.
Leadbelly - Huddie Ledbetter's Best... His Guitar - His Voice - His Piano
(1962, Capitol) DT 1821 Duophonic
a recent thrift store find, it's a fun listen even though in fake stereo. the previous owner used a poly-lined inner sleeve. recorded in 1944 at Capitol in Hollywood.
