George, I'm so happy you are back, when I saw a reply to this thread pop up, I nearly fell out of my chair because I knew it was you. That's great news about the cancer, a very difficult battle but you were strong and made it. Bud, I broke up with my lady on thursday for the second time and said a nasty thing to her this valentines day. Its good that you showed kindness to someone today, its sad that she reacted the way she did and I'm sure she feels a bit guilty doing what she did also. I know that me and my now 'ex' girl have many regrets on what we said over the past 4 days, it has been horrific for both of us. Anyways enough about me and welcome back my friend, you have made my day :occasion5:

Thanx heaps D2.
Ah yes, girlfriends….. [BIG SIGH] Could do with one myself right now, but unfortunately, the older you get, 'raises the bar' on how old you can court. According to society, I should be dating someone's grandmother. Unfortunately, I just don't find them attractive let alone sexy, as my mind has a fixed image of what I used to find attractive when I was first attracted to the opposite sex, but I'm happy to go half way, but even they're too young considering my age of 63. Just can't win.
Meanwhile I'll just have to settle at looking at D's avatars and pic uploads and be seen as just another dirty old man…. :(
Hope you get back with your g/f. Arguing about anything is just a waste of time. You just gotta learn when to hold your tongue and turn off, and eventually just change the subject to something more compatible. It's sort of like watching TV. Just change the channel….. ;)

I just found this, it scared the hell out of me. Much of what is written here applies to me, and explains my behavior towards my ex.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borderline_personality_disorder

I'm still communicating with her, but I did block communications for a day on the phone, and planned to leave it that way forever. Then I realised I couldn't do that. After all the horrible things we said to each other the past 4 days, we still say those 3 words. But we are not together right now, go figure.

I'm going to take a valium and go to bed so I'm fit for work tomorrow.

Now that I am finally aware of what my disorder is, I can use that information to try and curb my behavior. Reading that article was almost like looking into a mirror and seeing myself in the form of words. Not all that is there applies to me but lots of it does. It reduced my confusion and made things clearer. Now I have more of a guide on what I need to work on in order to fix my destructive thinking patterns. And all this while Im coming off meds. SLOWLY. There is a big problem george which only I can fix. Its just a matter of finding all the pieces of the puzzle and putting them together, sort of but much more to it. I dont know how else to explain it. Had I known this years ago I would have progressed much more. But sadly there are many hard yards to travel yet.

The key is to spot a 'melt-down' coming on D2. I've battled it for many years but analysed it myself. [They didn't have the 'net in those days.] I knew there was something wrong when bands used to keep me in a cage and only let me out to do the gig, and as soon as it was over, they'd stick me back in the cage again. I was so unapproachable that they had to keep the punters well away from me. :violent1: Ahhhh…. they were the days. :happy2:

….. then bury them in the back yard. :blob8:

Anyway, off for some more chemo now…. :confused1:

Yes I have had a couple of melt downs since being with my girl, it has nearly destroyed the relationship both times. My girl has a lot to deal with right now, sensitive issues which I can't mention. When I have a melt down, she can't deal with it, that is not fair on her. I need to fix this myself, and give her as much time as possible to fix her things. Both of our problems have an effect on each other so we have both decided to deal with them ourselves. Putting them together is like setting off an atomic bomb. One thing I do know, is that we both love each other very much.
