Boy there's a lot to read here. Half I understand, the other half not so much. When topics get into the technical aspects like talking about setting bias and offset and the like, I'm gone. I mean I just don't understand. Anyhow, some questions I'm hoping I'm allowed to ask. IF it turns out I'm not allowed to ask money questions, please feel free to delete or amend my post. I won't take offense. In looking, I've seen prices all over the place for 700's, both the "b's" and the series II. On ebay I check what they've sold for and they're still all over the place. 400's seem fairly plentiful while the 700's aren't. I'm pretty much decided on a 700 series II since I really like the Cylon meters, but I won't rule out a 700B because, well face it, they're awesome too! And I'm looking at the 700's sort of like muscle cars of the '70's. More horespower is better in most cases. So my first question is what would be a fair figure I can expect to pay for one that isn't beat to crap? I want one that the faceplate isn't an eyesore or anything like that unless new faceplates are available. I mean I realize these things are 40+ years old and I don't expect perfection, but I don't want an eyesore either. Next I'd like to ask since it's probably going to be made a WOPL, would it be better to get one that's not blown up? Or should I look for a nice working one. I'm guessing a working one. That leads to my next question. Can the average person with little to no electronic knowledge perform the White Oaks conversions? And I might as well go for the whole deal if I'm going to do it. No sense in being half-assed about it. OR, would I be better off having someone here do it for me. Anyhow, could someone supply a ballpark price for the upgrade plus the time and labor. Like I said, maybe these questions are inappropriate, but I'll never know if I don't ask. And last, who would do this?
