Split Enz - Message to my Girl - 45 Rpm Single

WOPL is doing wonders for this track as it does for all the others, DETAIL!

 
Increasing the tracking force of the Ortofon OM10 to the maximum recommended of 1.75 grams greatly improved the inner groove tracking ability. It won't beat the 440 but I'm impressed with the difference. The SME arm that I have on the thorens only goes to 1.5 grams which is optimal for the 440.
 
That's a classic turntable, Derek. I haven't spun a 7" 45 in a long time.

What do you know about them? The sound is really good on this one. I'm liking it very much. Its been sitting up stairs for a year and needed oil on the main shaft and in the motor (there is a hole that instructs you to put 2-3 drops in) I did that and its working perfectly. Auto return is a luxury after all these years of having a fully manual turntable.
 
The 7" 45's on the 440MLa cartridge are sonic heaven. I play the less than perfect condition ones on the Pioneer. Should try an LP soon too.
 
Just that it came out in 1974-1977. I have a PL-115D that's about the same vintage, but I haven't bothered to use. Very dependable and decent specs for a less than $150 original-retail turntable.

Its older than me then. I have to admit it sounded way better than I thought it would. I love that clunking sound it makes when the auto return shuts off the turntable. Also another advantage of this unit is you can keep the table spinning to clean the record. You just move the arm across a little until it starts then return it to its resting position. Then just press stop if you want to completely shut it off.

I'm using the Pioneer and OM10 to play less than perfect 45 Rpms to save the stylus life on my 440MLa/Thorens. The Pioneer sounds great. Plus I'm a lazy bastard and didn't have to leave my chair to change 45's :evil4:
 
Just played a couple of Led Zep alternate mix tracks from the deluxe edition at very high volume. Woke my ass up. Now more coffee!
