Thanks but have to admit next on my wish list is a TD 160 S. Also thinking of throwing an AT 440MLA on the Dual - what do you think?
Ahh you like the Thorens TD 160 Super eh? Same here. Had mine for 11 years and don't feel the need to buy another TT. AT440MLa is an outstanding cartridge and hard to beat (for the price/performance ratio). They are a bit bright, but this tames a little after break in, or you can do it by changing the loading on the pre(is that the word for it??), I don't feel the need to do this as the 440 brings out treble lacking vinyl quite nicely. Very little sibilance, it walked all over my OM10. I have around 95 hours on the 440 so far. As for inner groove tracking, its the best cart I have heard. Its either as good as the V15 Type 3 or better, however the V15 is a more 'neutral' sounding cartridge and has the Jico SAS stylus option. The 440 Stylus is a Microline type and it has dual magnets which provides exceptional separation. I'll hang onto the 440 for a very long time. The V15 I heard was on another system with Jico SAS, it sounded nice too and I hope to buy one to test as well but they aren't as easy to find and are much more expensive once you factor in the Jico Stylus.

Bringing in the first day of 2015 with Derek's Christmas gift. I received a 10 CD gift package, along with a card, yesterday, from him. Onto the second CD. Top quality sound. Thank you very much for the present, Derek!

That's some good ear candy for you there Nando, and you certainly have the system to extract all the sonic greatness from those tunes =). Enjoy bud.

The CDs comprise many good jazz songs which will be considered for our wedding music in August. I like the smooth jazz tunes to listen to during dinner. We started making our music list. Now, the hard work to finalize which songs will be the ones we use.

What format will you use? Minidisc would be most reliable I would assume?

I think to be safe, I have to record the entire set list in multiple formats for redundancy. Really, I had not thought of MD. I have to bring my own stereo gear because the one at the place we rented isn't going to cut it.

On second thoughts uncompressed wav or flac files played through a laptop would also be very reliable provided the laptop is running well and the hard disk isn't going crazy doing background tasks. It would also be faster to access and optimal playlists chosen for different parts of the occasion. You can just plug the line out of the sound card into the stereo system.

Have the house shaking to some Shpongle (Are You Shpongled?)
Always fun, but I can't do it too often living in a town house complex. New years eve was a good night to do it but I have to keep it low key. Also thieves tend to target people who play lots of loud music as they think there is expensive gear in the house. Have already had someone try to pry my door open while I was in the house.

Bill Laswell - Hear No Evil
(1988, Venture/Virgin) Mastered by Howie Weinberg at Masterdisk

demo disk sound quality and interesting music w/ middle eastern flavor from the Material bass player. More ambient than edgy. Nice.

Booker T. & The M.G.'s - Melting Pot
(1971, Stax) Monarch symbol / MASERTCRAFT Memphic HC in the deadwax, mastered by Howard Craft

tasty. love how track 1 starts off with a sort of soul stew with rhythm, guitar laying a base, then Booker T.'s organ comes boiling over the top. Actually every track sounds like this.
