that has a frequency range of 20Hz-20000kHz or whatever. It already has an astounding noise floor that will match a WOPL but missing that 'lil bit on the lowest end. What would have to be changed to get it down to 10Hz? Can any of said gurus make this happen? The patient will be a Perreaux SA-3 and could this be potentially a White Oak/Phoenix upgrade since it would be invented here? I have done a lot of surfing checking specs for a match made in heaven with a FC WOPL 400 and someday 700. The Perreaux kept coming back to me every time. I used one with the Amber 70s amps and it was just like a WOPL, it amazed me every time I turned it on with a soundstage that enveloped you in a comfy warm blanket with a detail and imagery that made you want to listen more. It made thopse Ambers shimmer. Sure I'd love a SPEC or a BillD modded Carver C1 but this preamp will more then fill the bill. I know the Amber 70s were beautiful sounding amps that liked to run HOT, had to keep a fan blowing on those babies. I used them as mono blocs :laughing5: for the SM-120s talk about a brutal combo. I blew one up eventually, only took me about a month :laughing5::laughing5::laughing5::laughing5::laughing5:

If I could find another pair of Amber 70s, I would sell my ass to get them

It depends. If the bottleneck is a interstage coupling capacitor then yeah, it would be simple. But how flat the response would be is dependent on the overall design of the preamp. Also there may be undesirable effects that could be introduced by the extended response, like hum or other noise...
Got a schematic?

Thanks Jason, really glad I could work a deal with the seller for it. As for a schematic, I have been spending th elast two hours looking. It seems Perreaux keeps that tightly classified. I think I read someone here or on AK actually got through to them and were most accommodating but I can't call New Zealand LOL

Hi Ron. There is a guy selling one now on Ebay,so I gave him a shout to see if he may have had one.
He said that back in the day he was a dealer for Perreaux and mentioned they never issued any
schematics with there products. Strike two.

It's most likely a preamp advertised spec shows a 20 Hz to 20Khz frequency range within a tight THD tolerance, but it's not like those lower and upper frequencies below and above the stated spec aren't there. Just the way things are spec-rated to similar components.

I don't have an International calling plan and can't justify one for a random call once in a few years

You don't need a calling plan to make an international phone call but the cost of that call can be quite steep without either a prepurchased calling card (from a third party) or a plan in place with your phone company.

Been there and done that...both Wellington and Melbourne, Australia. Have a plan now and calling Canada is covered, more realistic for me than Alice Springs...

Theres no 800#??? What about a us dealer ?
I see a place in California to call but if you go to the Perreaux site where that number is posted, they only offer .pdf files of the owners manuals, not service manuals
