Nice!! Did u get it off ak??
Yeah, a friend there has been looking for a preamp for me for quite awhile that was cheap but still sounded good enough to drive the WOPL and does not incorporate a tuner. His buddy is doing the work on it. Not sure what he is modding but I know it's also being recapped as we speak

It's really bugging me that you had that receiver away for so long and now it has an issue. It does not sound like it can't be made right whatever the issue is, just a better tech who actually gives a shit about the work and not inundated with other repairs would be the better choice. 19 months is BS as it is and it still has an issue? WTF

Maybe someone here can tell you how to decouple the power section so you can use it for a standalone preamp until it can be fixed right???

Hi Ron, the Nad 1020 preamps have quite the following . Goodphono section. Its the same preamp section used in the
legendary 3020 . Back in the day the 3020 kicked-ass on some of the higher end stuff.

Hey Mike, yes, it seems to get very favorable reviews and the same has been said from many people about the phono section

Perreaux is here and already in

OMG!!!!!

I remember why this Perreaux did not come with tone controls, you just flat out don't need them. I pulled the dbx 1BX out of the chain now and it totally blows away my previous sound. Bass has such a huge presence now... even at low levels. The soundstage is now ridiculous. I could hear hints of it from over at my computer station before but NOTHING like this. I could not be in a worse position regarding orientation to my speakers but goddamn, the soundstage is now over here also

THIS is the preamp you want Jason. Talk about musical WOW!!!! just FUCKING WOW!!!!

Like night and day Bro. Lively, articulate, clarity everywhere. Even Debbie walked over and asked what I did to the system. She hears the difference way in the kitchen and the volume is barely turned up. She's on the phone with someone so I am trying very hard to be courteous and not punch the gas pedal

This is one instance where ear fatigue will never be an issue. I see zero need to even think about modding this in anyway

As you can see, the WOPL needles are not even off 0 and the music surrounding me is just so fucking clean and articulate. The WOPL is going to love this when I turn on the thunder

Just gassed her a little bit and really, there is no need to crank the piss out of the WOPL to get that "feel" now. It's ridiculous how much better my system sounds

Thanks Mike. I was a bit worried where to put the preamp since it's the same width as the WOPL so in the main rack area where I had the Carver is out. I set the WOPL gingerly on it and it does look good. Not to mention I can mess with the old lady when she tries to turn it down with the Carver and nothing happens LMAO. I have it still in the rack because I am too lazy to pull it out right now

I think I may get rid of the EQ also since it's bypassed and just there for the light show
