The difference you hear between a WOPL and stock, that is almost as much difference you hear between quasi and FC. More soundstage, tighter controlled bass.....

I can agree 100% with that. As I have heard one of each. And the fc is hands down winner in all aspects.

Hey Dave if ya ever want to hear Jessica Lmk I'll make the drive. And you could hear her on your setup.
Jason, that's really a cool offer...ya know it's 215 miles from Mill Creek to Swartz Creek one way...3 hrs 12 minutes to be exact :happy6::happy6::happy6:.
My wife said with gas prices like they are she hopes you've got a motorcycle, and I said he'll need a side car just for the WOPL! But then we BOTH could tell Lee about how AWESOME Dahlquist DQ-10s and Dahlquist DQ-1W subwoofers all biamped with pair of WOPL 1000s sounds.
In fact, jump on a plane and join us, Lee! Flint / Bishop airport in mid-Michigan (FNT) is 15 minutes from our house.
I know I'm gonna go FC one of these days, it's just a matter of when...

So I decide to get busy refinishing these speakers as I really want them in the man cave, instead of the bedroom. I armaflexed the drivers and the speaker terminal cup. Tightened down the nuts to the rebuilt tweeters. Yuo they were loose, surprised they did not short out or blow out as they were rattleing loose. I also stripped that ugly ass black finish as well spent the whole day sanding these things down. I am going to leave the wood as is. No Stain, but a sealer will be applied to them. The risers will have to be remade as I did manage to burn thru on the bases, trying to get the paint off of them.
Any who on with the picks
These speakers are bad ass. Better than my SDA2's that I molded as well.

Need to do some more sanding work though, but my back wont stand for it today so some other time
Anyway back in the bedroom they go

Crap, what happened to the nice Black finish? :rabbit:

My sander was hungry for some black paint
I generally like black speakers, but if poorly done then wood grain is far superior. I have a set of bookshelf Wharfdales that I covered with woodgrain shelf paper cause I thought the black looked cheap. They don't look too bad for shelf paper and since the front and back of the cabinets are plastic and totally come off I simply wrapped the shelf paper around the box, glued the ends inside the cabinet and put the plastic fronts and backs back on.

properly constructed horn load boxes are really hard to beat when paired up with a more than capable amp, and running hard….

you can like both, but when it's time to deliver, the horns win hands down for getting the hair to stand up on the back of your neck.

hell, i know people over here that have spent collectively, millions on audio gear, and i've heard it all and some, but as good as some front loaded stuff gets, and it gets pretty good, stick me in front of a BIG PA with my hand on the output faders, and i go mental…. :evil4:

even tho' i've never had the good fortune of hearing your system Lee, trust me when I say, I know exactly wot you're hearing and experiencing…..

That's cool...You love your system and I love mine...we're both happy and that's what it's all about, after all. I am going to have to go full complimentary this winter though. I've blown my budget for the summer, so that has to wait.
