If you ever make it into Berkeley California, Rasputins and Amoeba will blow your mind! You practically trip over their inventory, it's packed so thick. Rasputins is three stories with a dedicated vinyl basement level. Packed! So much so that ALL the walls are covered, edged to edge with LP's.

By the way, if any of you guys are hunting for a particular used/hard-to-find LP - let me know and I'll keep it handy on a pick list and keep my eyes open whenever I'm in the vinyl jungle.

:glasses8:

thanks! I've heard good things about Rasputins, would love to check it out next time in the bay area. I hit the Amoeba in Haight Ashbury SF last year - it's a big store but after all the hype I was underwhelmed by the used record inventory and prices that I saw in the bins ...compared to what I see in Seattle area stores like Jive Time in the Fremont neighborhood, and the Silver Platters stores. Incredible inventory with new arrivals every week, priced to move because the masses are only looking for PinkFloydLedZepStonesBeatles. Lots of retiring baby boomers selling off their record collections these days. Seattle and Portland are swimming in LPs.

Great voice on that girl, gone too soon.

very true, a voice like no other and unfortunately not much material recorded in her time here but we enjoy what we have. In case you haven't seen it - a (too short) video clip from the mid-70s:

Shpongle - Museum of Consciousness

Changed my soundcard to a later revision of the Soundblaster X-Fi Extreme (SB0770), still an old card but definately an improvement from the earlier revision. This one has optical in/out which I cant use at this stage, but still sounds good through the analog out.

Patricia Barber - A Distortion of Love - (1992) - MFSL - UDSACD - 24/192

D2, where are you sniffing out all that Patricia Barber stuff?? And is it as good as Companion?

Nothing I have listened to has beaten companion as yet. The studio albums are good but I have not spent too much time comparing directly. There is so much to memorise in that music. But I still have a lot of listening to do as I have 10 of her albums already.
However if you wish I can upload them to a server for you to download.

When I get Jer's new creation up and running I'll do that. I have a 1TB external that Rick Stout loaded with over 200gigs of music , I'll be after those downlods then. He also loaded a really good sound processor and sent a DAC so I can finally go to the DAC with some Toslink from the computer to the pre-amp. Gonna be nice to stream finally...
