There are two rods that are glass or clear plastic. When the capstans turn it sends a signal to the tape counter. There isn't any belts. No I'm just tired of peanuts and I'm grouchy.I hate peanuts being every where or all over my garage.Which takes weeks to find all of them and sweep them up.

Tire is changed. I did drop the E clip many times. Trying to find it now. If I find it and get it installed will be ready to test.

Larry,

I am so very sorry for all the problems. The deck did not work when it arrived at my place (your K-1000) and I told you. I am so very, very sorry. I like to neither a lender, nor a borrower be........

I really appreciate you letting me try it, but I never had the chance in that it didn't want to work for me.

I tried to wrap your unit and mine as well as I could. I did us about 5 or 6 feet of bubble wrap on each unit (I think), and then packed them with lot of packing peanuts. I bought all these packing supplies and a new box. I probably spent as much on packing supplies as I did on the UPS shipping cost.

I am very sorry if I have done anything to upset. I offered to pay to have your unit fixed....I felt it was my responsibility since you did send it to me to try out. I will still do that. I do want my K-1000 to work as well. I looked under the hood on both units, and both were extremely clean, and looked as though they had been taken great care of. If ther is anything I can do, I stand ready to do it. I have the service manualo, which I have offered to email you available. I will do whatever it takes to get both units working properly. I want this K-1000 to be my Dragon Slayer ( I know that is not going to happen...it's probably not as good a machine), but at least I had hoped this would be my cassette deck equivalent to the Onix CDP....the best I'll ever have...

I'm sorry if I've done anything to make your life less than great...but you should have enough packing peanuts to last a long time....I am sorry if I've done anything to offend..

If you had I would tell you. My fingers are callused so I can't feel small parts. I have a manual.

There is something lose in mine. I got it working. I recorded a tape.

Not a Dragon slayer but to me a nice deck. You are OK. LOL

It is in the deck. I have shook it and turned it and looked with my magnified lamp. That is the last step before testing. It always happens that way. LOL Where do you get panty hose?

I sure hope it works. Did you use the eBay guy to find the tire? If the tire is not the problem, what do you suspect next? I assume you have sprayed DeOxit to it. I was unsure exactly where it would be safe to spray. Also didn't know if the motors were bad, or what made the unit stop a second or two after starting. I just hope it is a salvageable unit.. I really want a top drawer casette deck without having to spend a small fortune..

OK this is what it was. The deck didn't see the tape moving. So it stopped. The tire is hitting now.Yes I got the tire from him. Will put the clip on tomorrow. It is all good. I'll run it through its paces tomorrow.

You worry to much. LOL All is good. You have to have faith. You will have a very nice deck. One of my favorite deck/ The 2000 then the 1200. Just have faith. What music do you want?
