crusty old fart
looking for 3 indicator/selector knobs (rectangular head) and 2 round head knobs. these are the same knobs found on other models as well (MXR-series and "The Carver Receiver)

Larry's got a tuner on sale here. For comparison, those the right style?

(EDIT: Ain't got any myself)

Like my motorized Kenwood. Middle-aged moment there.

dingus, if you can post a pic, I have quite a selection of stuff like that.

here we go... the original knobs are plastic molded and break easily.

i may have found a source for some machined aluminum replica's. he's got the rectangular head knobs, but i havent been able to confirm if he's got the round type. i'll post back what i find out.

Try "Antique Electronics" good selection of machined knobs, courtesy of "soundude". I'll look through my collection also, are they split and splined or solid shaft or half round??

the receiver is still with the tech and i dont remember what type of connection they take. i'm going to try and get over there tomorrow, but if not, probably Saturday or Sunday until i'll have it back.

Looks like you could almost get away with Sansui/Technics/Realistic.

i'll pick up the Carver on Saturday. heard back from the guy with the machined knobs... he's only got the rectangular heads, no rounded heads. i suppose i could go with all rectangular knobs though.

Why don't you call a machine shop and see what they will charge you. You do work at Boeing right? They have a machine shop.

Larry

today's business environment doesnt allow for that kind of activity... i suppose i could try a local machine shop, or there are plenty of knob makers on the net too.

yeah it is. you'd be culture shocked if you came back. its nothing like when i started in 1985.

If you work at Boeing, have your's and ED Blackwood path's crossed??

i dont believe i've ever met Ed Blackwood, but dont hold me to that. i've been here a long time and have spent time at all the major plants so it may have happened.

I doubt if the knobs are splined. I'll bet they are flat spot to be indexed. You could always do a set screw. Would be cheaper. Plus the aluminum would sure be pretty.

Larry

just got the Carver back, here's what i'm dealing with....

Split and splined. Ok, we dig out the boxes.

Pioneer used a lot of split and splined shafts. Their knobs consisted of a smooth bore with a plastic insert with the splines in it.
