What cartridge are you using?

I just fixed one of those for my neighbor down the street Perry.

He did the same thing. Called me up and asked me to come over to see why his table was not playing like it used to. The cantilever was bent straight down toward the record surface.

Next he ordered a replacement cartridge since I told him he either needed to replace the stylus assembly or get a new cartridge. I told him I would do either replacement for him once he got the parts. (my recommendation was the new, pluggable stylus)

Well he got the replacement cartridge on order and it came in. He got impatient and attempted the install himself. In that process, he broke one of the 34 AWG tonearm wires off.

I ended up taking his turntable base back to my lab, replacing the tone arm wires and installing, aligning his new cartridge. He is happy now and he owes me...

Some of these guys with Meat Fingers should find help....

Big time, I'd say...

I've got an LP Gear line contact stylus coming to fit my Goldring Elan (it's actually a cheap Sanyo cart). $99 is as cheap as line contacts get so we'll see....
