what are you listening to?

Rare lp w/ both Earth (eventually Black Sabbath) and Flying Hat Band (Glenn Tipton of Judas Priest's early heavy psyche 3 piece band's 1971 release). Using the ugly but effective Mitsubishi DP-96DA w/ Shure M55EM

That's the first I have heard of either band. I will check out some of the vintage LP stores near me to see if I can find a copy of Earth and FHB.

Nando.

Hey Nando, I doubt you will find a copy in any store. Only 100 were pressed and they came from the UK. I do have a USB turntable so I can make a recording for you when I get some CD-R's. There is one on eBay from a seller in the UK for $31.24 + $10.86 shipping which is a deal

There is one other copy on eBay but the seller is in Greece and he wants about $45 before shipping

It's funny, when you listen to this, Flying Hat Band is SO much better then the early Earth/Black Sabbath. I will say Iommi rips some nice heavy blues on a few of the tracks. In fact, Earth was a heavy blues band before becoming and releasing Black Sabbath's debut. As for FHB, Glenn Tipton never ceases to amaze me, he is one helluva good guitar player and actually does the singing on this. His guitar playing with all the psyche type effects is hypnotic

That's extremely rare. Thanks for the offer Northwinds - a CD copy would be great. You just don't know what you will see when members post their music, here.

Nnado.

WOW...gonna have to see if I can find this music somewhere. Have not hear anything pre JP from Tipton but would like to.

Just finished listening to one of nobody's mixes with playback being handled by my Nakamichi RX 202:

This tape is wonderful! Great song selections and very well recorded. I received my copy on a TDK D without NR being noted on the tape. Nice and clear with good bottom end in my system! Looking forward to tape #2 which is waiting in the Nak.

Nando, I may have to send this tape to you if you are unable to work out a trade with nobody- worth a listen. :bounce: Shame he hasn't come over to the Darkside yet.

Dang, just noticed the typos up there. Should be DreaM Academy and the Roxy Music song is Avalon.

Still glad you're diggin' it. I was actually drivin' around yesterday with my copy of that one playing most of the day. I'm happy to trade with anyone interested. Hope you like the other one too. I had actually sent out versions of that other one to a couple people, but the original was done with some pretty crappy sources as far as sound quality and the recording was rather poor. I think the copy you have is vastly improved. Kind of feel bad for the people who got version 1 now. But anyway, hope you enjoy it.

Nick: Thanks for posting the pictures and your comments. I haven't approached nobody to do a tape exchange, yet, but once I get some free time following my current recording commitments, I will drop him a line. I do have plenty of new wave on vinyl, too.

Good looking RX-202!

Nando.

Hey there. If you're interested I can send one of these your way, no problem. Just get me your address.

Thanks, I would gladly receive a copy. I am a little tied up with a few other mix tape recordings - I finished one for Sep (VintageShadow) to be mailed tomorrow and I have two more after his.

In the meantime, I'll PM my mailing address if you could do the same.

Nando.

Nando, I was informed that Dolby C was used during recording of this tape.

Another classic one to play:

Adjusted the 412 cartridge by the book.... and it sounds great.

Mmmm, guitar music and your new Philips, and this is marvelous. Do you have in plan to put them on the tape? I'm sure your Philips TT can impress your Sony's in this sense :-P

This Jan Akkerman album is legendary Sep, and I have it on CD as well.
Sure, this "bargain" turntable thing inspired me a lot to do something with it.....

I found this video on youtube , this TT is fascinating and how is automatically sensing the record diameter, it's a great device indeed and a very good bargain :)

Yup, a lousy 5 euro's for a TT in MINT! condition...

The sensor is fun, and it works perfect.

(the 222 on the video is the hard to find black aluminium version, but with the standard 401 cartridge...)
