No, I haven't really had the chance. Right now I'm cleaning out my Record room. It's long overdue. Not as bad as the cd room but still messy.

I'm estimating around 5000 lps and 3500 cds (not counting cdrs). The cd room also has tapes in it as well as my computer cabinet. The record room also has books and years and years worth of magazines.

As far as the phono amp, yes I tried a different one, no difference.

Derek + The Dominos-"The Layla Sessions" 1990 Polydor Records cassette

....A 3 tape box set. 2 tapes worth of outtakes and jams. Bought this sealed on a trip back to Ohio for 10 bucks. Not the best sounding prerecorded tapes but the packaging is very classy. Out of print but still available on Amazon for reasonable prices.

So try another ground. Has to be in the wiring some where. Pretty easy to trouble shoot. Do you have any jumpers? If so hook to the ground lug and touch it to different grounds see what happens? If you need anything let me know. You may have a wire touching ground some where. Pray not in the tone arm.

The little jumper wires in an SME style arm connection can break easily and not look broke, check them with your meter for continuity.

Also check the wires were they transition from the tonearm to the RCA's, and it can even be an RCA. I would try a continuity check from the leads in the headshell to the RCA's and see if there is a break.

Another thing I have ran into with that type of head shell is to clean the junctions were the headshell connects to the tonearm with Deoxit and a pencil eraser, they do get oxidized and don't transmit the signal well, it just a but type connection and needs to be clean and tight.
