what are you listening to?

Someone's TD-160 Super needs to have a run-in with a can of black spray paint to looks its best. But The tunes probably sound good from that machine. Some good choices there.

I've been doing the radio with XPN playing the top 885 songs from this century. I know almost all the artists, only recognize a small percentage of the songs by name.

Then "Echoes brings together a wide array of styles, from acoustic to electronic, jazz to space music, the avant-garde to rock. Echoes is a sound that is cross-cultural and trans-millennial, merging cultures and forms, technology and tradition, the ancient past and the possible future." Playing selections from the top albums of the year. Not sleeping last night I got to hear London Grammar 3 times in the number 4 position. Was a good show.

Then today driving had something in the CD Changer I liked. I'll check on that.

Gonna get to the records soon, gotta look over the needles I have since I got an inspection microscope the other day and know how to use it.

The Angels - Dark Room
I have setup this Hitachi HT-50s direct drive for playing less than perfect records that have not been cleaned. Also 45’s, it is the only table I have with auto return. Standard cartridge with new stylus. Not broken in yet.

Other 45's in the stack:

Racey - Some girls
Chic - Le Freak
Boomtown Rats - I Don't like Mondays
Genesis - In Too Deep
ELO - Don't bring me down
Police - Every Breath You Take
Angels - No Secrets
Queen - You're My Best Friend
Cliff Richard - Dreamin'
Falco - Rock Me Amadeus
JJ Cale - Cocaine
Big Pig - Breakaway
John Farnham - Pressure Down
Dexy's Midnight Runners - Come on Eileen

Need a record changer :evil4:

Listening party over at Robert D's house last night. If his new Revel F328 BEs weren't broken in before, they are now. More efficient than his big Sonus Fabers, bigger sound, as well. Seamless. Great imaging, killer sound overall. The Benchmark amps weren't even breathing hard and we were pushing it.

Me likey.

Everything from John Cougar Mellencamp to Parliament to Neil Young to Little Feat with a little Traffic from Welcome to The Canteen thrown in for some live music. Sounded better than the concert ever hoped to. Great chili, good moonshine, much fun.

OK, I changed the CD 6-pack in the car and what came out was two known albums,
Pete Townsend White City
Bob Weir Heaven Help the Fool
and I recall that loading this disc-pack I put on new to me from Tom CDs that got a 4-5 star rating in my files.

Black Dub their eponymous 2010 disc was the one I was liking.

Then there were a couple discs that I actually said, this sounds like Album Leaf, and dang I was right. In a Safe Place and Into the Blue Again were loaded. Hey, I'm starting to figure out some of these CDs Tom sent me.

Don't get no better than that!!!

I was thinking the same thing. There are a pile of high end speakers out these days and I'd really like to hear a number of them.

And Revel is part of the Harman Group and even though owned by Samsung their products seem to be top quality.

Up here in the frozen wastelands we aren't exposed to the high end stuff just walking around the neighborhood. I don't know if there is a stereo store left in Wyoming.
Bob's comments just struck a chord of longing to be able to do that. A weekend with your buds checking out hot new audio shit ....don't get no better than that...
Unless your fishing at the Mile.....

That's the one and only benefit of living within driving distance of the Chicago area.

You could not pay me enough to live in that area again, but spend a weekend visiting high end audio stores - HELL yes...
