I think I have only one of their LPs, but I really didn't know anything about the band. Thanks for doing a bit of research, because I'm a big fan of ELP. Long ago I wasn't, but my listening preference has changed.

Two 8 tracks fit onto one side of an 1800' @ 3.5 IPS and you just happened to have a copy of ELP - Tarkus in the tub. Thought it appropriate to make that the fourth album on side 2 of the reel.

I never warmed up to ELP either and don't own a single LP. They played the Colosseum here long ago and I nearly nodded off. Either they didn't spin my crank or I was doing the completely wrong intoxicants that night.

Hey bud, I bought the 1st pressing of MFSL DSOTM in '79?? Has SR and a squigle underneath in the dead wax, still has the $17.00 price tag on the outer thick sleeve, I wonder how yours sounds compared to mine?

When I bought my Thorens in '79 the local salon said "son, you need some serious recordings for that rig". I was just about tapped out as a young high school student but...found the funds for the MFSL Floyd, Supertramp ~ Crime of the Century, Beatles ~ Abbey Road and Steve Miller ~ Fly Like an Eagle all at $17.00 each! They still give me the shivers

back in the early 70s I remember questioning why I was spending the extra couple of dollars for Stones and Beatles UK import LP - $6 instead of $4 I haven't heard the MFSL DSOTM, bet it's nice. The WLY pressing has thundering low frequencies, which is a good thing for that album!

Indeed. Vinyl prices have risen astronomically here. I was not able to finish collecting the rest of Zep re issues as they rose in price again a couple months ago. These werent cheap to begin with. The owner at my local shop had read off a list of price hikes to me. He will no longer be bringing in certain titles, much like the expanded Zep re issues, as he has to charge a premium for them now. I think he has to ask 80 for Physical expanded to make any money....Boo.

For some reason I just about love this album more than After The Gold Rush...Young was not 'Young' at this point and it's a damned good listen.

How do you like the Sabbath album Ben?

I recently picked up the Master of Reality - Deluxe Edition. The second album has different versions of previously released Master of Reality songs but the first song on the bonus CD is classic Sabbath and my understanding is this was not released prior to the deluxe edition - "Weevil Woman '71". For early Sabbath fans I think we'd agree that this song should have made the final cut for the original album.

Eternal Idol is a great album. Its the first album with singer Tony Martin. I personally like all the albums Tony Martin was involved in, TYR being one of my favorite non-Ozzy front Sabbath albums.

I have heard about these deluxe reissues, but have not checked any of them out personally. I'm interested in this link you posted Dennis, and plan to load up this link on my other computer that is hooked up to the stereo to check this song out, rather than the Altec Lansing 2.1 computer speakers I have.
