Thanks! Both for your comments on the mono releases and the link to Michael Fremer. I'm embarrassed to say that I displayed some ignorance regarding mono recordings. I guess past experiences determine expectations. There's also a YouTube post about Mr. Fremer explaining the matrix numbers and I'm afraid to research some of my records to find that they're pure shit-on-a-disc. I know more about what to look for now.

Nice. According to wiki this was Blakey's first recording for Blue Note after a break for several years at various labels including Columbia, Vik, Atlantic, Pacific Jazz, Cadet. Quite a record to mark his return to Blue Note with!

Nice. best moments are when Green's loose, bluesy playing cuts through Creed Taylor/KUDU arrangements like a hot knife through butter.

I have not thought of Vic Vergat since I was in highschool. He had a video on MTV back then from his Down to the Bone album

Everybody needs a copy of this in their collection, SLF. Might be my favorite Blakey album(at least today).
 
Listening to NRK webradio while I websurf. So far, I've explored their classical channel, their Sami music channel, their jazz channel, and their (Norwegian) folk music channel. SQ is uniformly superb, and the musical selections do not disappoint. Who really needs an FM tuner anymore?

I don't own Toad on LP, I was playing it from Flac File. The album is worth many listens too, a nice discovery.

I agree Nick, it's essential and mandatory for any hard bop jazz collection. Moanin' is an incredible performance especially by Lee Morgan on trumpet - leaps out of the speakers. I also like the 1960 title - A Night In Tunisia.
