Had to give the Vinyl Me, Please April 2015 record of the month, Menomena~ Friend and Foe(FILMguerrero- Barsuk/ VMP) another couple of spins before moving on to the May 2015 that just arrived. Great dustjacket with art from Craig Thompson(Blankets and Habibi graphic novels) that was nominated for a 2008 Grammy for album packaging.

Another Vinyl Me, Please reissue getting some love is Ben Webster Quintet~ Soulville(Verve/ VMP). Great mix of jazz and blues on this and I dig the etched label.

Elvin Bishop - Let It Flow
(1974, Capricorn) Promo; STERLING in the deadwax

nice country blues rock on the Capricorn label. includes tasty guitar picking especially on Traveling Shoes when Dicky Betts and Bishop are trading licks - Betts' playing is easy to pick out as its ringing like on a track from Eat A Peach. Also includes Sly Stone on organ, Vassar Clements, strings.

Earth Wind & Fire - Gratitude on the Tandberg 3300X Crossfield that's been sitting out in the garage for eons. Surprised it still works and sounds so good. I think the rewind belt is toast though. FF and Play work fine

While I agree, the sound changed when the Alice Cooper Band left, and it became the Alice Cooper show, Nightmare is still an Iconic album.

Didnt someone from Rolling Stone also dismiss Zeppelin?



Black Widow, among many others on that album, as previously mentioned, Department Of Youth, and, Steven, Only Women Bleed, Cold Ethyl, as well as anything else on there, are surely much more worthy than taking anothers word for it.

Cold Ethyl is one of my favorite AC tunes

Another thrift flip find for $0.99 and I thought it would be a bad Hair Band album. Bought it anyway because I never heard of them or the label Cherry Red Records. Turned out the vinyl was NM and it's great album. Had to Google search and turns out they're from London, England, formed in 1971 and this particular LP was recorded in 1973 and released with a different cover. The copy I got says "Licensed From Cherry Red Records in 1980 and distributed by Pickwick Records of Canada. One blurb I read online called them Proto Punk/Glam and said they compared themselves to New York Dolls. I guess West Coast Canada never got much fringe music in the early 70's.

a thrift store pick up from a few years ago, just getting around to playing it. Trashed and taped cover but the LP is a nice player. I never had any exposure to this band - as it wasn't much known in the US. The Faith Healer is a scorching track.

The Sensational Alex Harvey Band is great stuff, I have his Live album and possibly another somewhere. Faith Healer is one of his best tunes for sure. He passed away way too young, only 46 IIRC
