My favorite Ronstadt album and not just for the cover art. great sound quality and a great showcase for her singing with songs written by Karla Bonoff (3), Tracy Nelson, Ry Cooder, Buddy Holly, Willie Nelson, the title song by Warren Zevon and a couple by Linda herself including the sublime Lo Sienta Mi Vida. Purchased as a new release, around the same time as Zevon's Exciteable Boy. certainly a different side of Zevon than Roland The Headless Thompson Gunner and Lawyers, Guns and Money. I picked up Karla Bonoff's debut LP shortly after hearing this LP.

Well, that too, but it's definitely for Linda's happy girls...:albino:

I'm starting to think this Technics deck is a bit of a sleeper. It has been sitting up stairs for quite a while due to having too much torque on the take up reel causing take skew, I have fixed this problem and have played about 6 tapes in the unit.

The "amorphous non-cristalline atomic arrangement" head is extremely quiet in terms of noise and also very long lasting, it amazes me how quiet it is in the hiss department even with no dolby! I have recorded a Sony Metal XR with DBX noise reduction in this unit and the results were excellent. I also tried a TDK AD100 with dolby b but it was way too bright and lacking bass. Will have to try without dolby sometime. The JVC is still king in the recording department as it can calibrate to each tape.

But the sounds coming from this technics are truly amazing, especially tapes recorded in the JVC with dolby b. Its a two motor unit but uses 1 motor in play mode, and the other for FF/REW, Wow/Flutter is surprisingly good. She's definately a keeper and a bargain at $9 purchased 18 months ago.
