Listening to Nick's Jazz Mix 2014 by our very own Nick Danger. All piano/organ based jazz tunes, all recorded excellently from vinyl. Features guys like Duke Pearson, Horace Silver, Bud Powell and many more, several I've never heard before so this will become a shopping list. Actually, I think ol' Nick is trying to cost me money as he also tossed in a reel version, knowing I've not yet gotten myself a reel to reel player. Sneaky devil.

Oh, and for me this is yet another example of how a simple type I with dolby b, in this case a TDK D, can sound absolutely fantastic if well recorded. The combination of these kind of tapes sounding great on the big deck and still being highly compatible with whatever portable or car deck I throw it in really has won me over. I'm still holding on to a stash of type IIs in case I flip flop on this one, but for now I've no desire to use them.

Dave: I haven't revealed the track list, just yet, in case there are other members who have yet to receive a copy from Douglas. But, I will post in the "Your Latest Mix" thread. Douglas might be stirring your interest in adventuring into the realm of open-reel tape.

Dave: That's where a Pioneer RT-701/707 fits the bill nicely. There's a bunch of nice low-profile open-reel decks worthy of owning, like this Akai GX-77:

Broken beyond repair but highly affable
No, I sorta figured it would be in the same location as any other woman's, barring personal hygiene preferences. :hippy2:
