what are you listening to?

I had and sold my Philips GA-212 and my Thorens TD 160 C was one of two turntables I traded for the Marantz SLT-12U.

I bought the TD-160 C from the original owner and it came complete with all the factory documentation, packing box, etc.

Your TD-160 C looks brand new, amazing find. I am sure that one sold quickly.
Thanks for sharing Nando.

@Vintage 700b: The Marantz SLT-12U was a turntable I spied at The Turntable Shop. I knew the owner of the shop and I worked out a deal with Nick to have him set aside the turntable, while I waited for two turntables to sell at his store as a straight exchange for the Marantz. I didn't have to wait long. The turntable was Nick's personal-use one and it was on display and not listed for sale. He was reluctant to sell it to just anyone and it was understood the new owner would go through a tutorial on its proper use and maintenance. That training session took about 45 minutes, but was time well-spent. There are no electronics involved in its linear-tracking operation - strictly mechanical. It came with the original packing carton.

It is always a pleasure to see (and hear) your audio equipment Nando.
You have some of the finest examples in your collection. I remember well, the excitement everyone made (including myself) when that fellow on my floor showed up for school with a Marantz STU-12U. Linear tracking was going to change the world :). It was very unique then, even more so today. He had a nice vinyl collection as well. Yours is a super nice example of the marque.
Thank You

I set the Model One time machine to 1975, and this popped up.
Incredible soundstage, imaging, and engineering in this album.
A very enjoyable listen.

Good to see the motor clutch assembly is there. It takes the strain off the motor on spin up, can also prevent belt slip on less than good belts.
The 165 doesn't have the clutch, I give the platter a gentle turn before spinning it up. They are great turntables, looks the same as the 165 but the anti skate system on the arm is different.
