An inexpensive adjustable station would make it so much easier for you, and a couple of tips.

The WLC100 is pretty decent for the money, the one below it is a whole lot better. being able to adjust the current helps a lot to keep heat where it belongs.

I recently bought Roy's SP-9 preamp with the phono section in the same chassis. Very nice work. (I bought a unit that Roy had partially completed, but had cosmetic issues). So far, I am very impressed with it. He is working on doing some mods to the Yaqin MS-12B and turning it into a line stage preamplifier, and doing away with the phono section, which he says is not very good anyway. Roy indicated to me that he couldn't buy the comonents for the preamps for double what they ae selling for. He modded mine a bit, but I kept the phono section. We'll see what he might do with the Yaqin. I also have his M-125 tube monoblocks....and have nuked the tweeters in a pair of DIY speakers twice, so they do put out a little current. Very nice tube amps....and preamps....IMHO
