How high you going with that $$ wise, I still think you should get that Cary I posted below in this section $425 I think it was, perfect match for the 100's, unless you really want to build something.

Well I pulled the trigger on this one. http://www.tubes4hifi.com/pre11.htm#SP12
I got the SE kit also. Will get the toroidal trans next then the chassis. I almost bought the Chinese copy of the Marantz 7 for 166.00. The last time I bought Chinese from ebay I used the amp maybe 20 hrs. Sold it to Web and it had a bad channel. So I'm a little leery. This will be good for me. If and when I make time. I just got another order for tapes.

Right On! Nice, I'm excited for you, remember, lot's of pics and dialog to go with the build :D , am I correct in seeing that the phono stage is a separete box of tubes??

Go for the PH-12, dude you need the best for the phono, or else your wasting those nice Magic Audio cables ;)

You're just chugging along for the Dream tube main rig :read2: :read2: :read2: :study: :read2: :read2: :read2:

Yes separate Phono stage; but I can put it in the 16 chassis. Going to take my time. Speakers are my big deal. Just have to figure out what I want to do. Do I go with the little Epos 20s at my cost or go with another British speaker. Found a Curtis Mathis pre and tuner on ebay. Almost did it. LOL

The speaker/amp synergy is the most critical part of the chain, except the room of course! Since you know what amps you're going to use, and are building speakers. You and the helper designer call dial that in. Kewl!!

Wow, I just had a sniff around ebay, and I think I saw the Curti Mathes you looked at, a console pull right? The olny way to listen to FM is with a tube tuner. And that's from my ears and Dale's expertise in the broadcast field. I don't listen to FM much anymore.

Yes I have an old Scott tuner that the faceplate glass is broken. I may use it for a tuner. The Tuner/pre combo that Jerry got was a pretty good tuner. Who knows which way I will go.

Well Roy just emailed me. I asked a few questions and invited him to join us and put his link either here or on the site. He seems like a really nice guy. I have to do this a little at a time. I am getting more orders and the site isn't geared at the indie market yet. Just word of mouth. I'm not made of money. I'm almost ready to sell one of my systems in the sound room.

How exciting!! :thumbright: and I hope Roy signs up here, he'd be a wonderful member to have around :D . I really like his curcuit designs, but I'm dead against the looks of the gear, I'm vain

OK the kit arrived today. Will post pics. Had to down load a resistor chart. LOL I forgot how to read them. The diodes will be fun. LOL. Now I'm in a quandary. Not really I need to start on Lees TT.
