I'm in no rush at all lol. This 3600 will do just fine for years!!! That's just my pipe dream pre! It was amazing running through a 100w Cary amp that was 5k also. So dude had 10k in amp and pre and 8500$ in his CD player plus his room was set up for sound. So all the variants could make me think the pre was awesome! But maybe it was the combo!! I don't know lol that's why I'm so happy and lucky Ron steered me here before I maxed out my credit trying to recreate something!! If this makes any sence

They're wondereful pre-amps, especially when I'm done with em...I've put a lot of work in the 2 I have and they are wonderful units. In my opinion ya gotta spend a lot of money to get better...

I had a set of Cary SLM-100 mono blocs, sold em to the Larrt....

Tomorrow we gut the amp and start back. No pots, no direct/normal coupling switch, should go fast...

Yeah, they take a little work and the traces are shit, and ya used to be able to get em for less than 200.00...... not anymore though....Joe has optimized the circuits in these too, they have pretty good response when we're done...

EDIT!!, you were talking about the Spec 1?? Then yes the Spec 1 is better than the 3600 and 3300 in general, but the Spec's phono section is not as good as the 3600, better than the 3300 though..

And the phono section of the 3600 is wayyyy better...Joe said to leave the pphono section as is....first time he 's said that...
