I have been following your project. Looking good .
I have used a a veneer from these guys.
http://www.veneersupplies.com/categories/Veneer__Products/Peel__&__Stick__Veneer/

They have just about every wood species available. The type with the "sticky back" is probably the easy way.
Check them out, lots of info there.
 
Kev, I would pop the top plate and then make the cut out for the mids then figure out what ya need for shim and pop the top plate back on..
 
Yea... I'll Only have to make a new plate that the horn and tweet fit in, two little side plates and the little on in the back.. But yea, I can use the same top.. I've got a couple places lined up for Veneer I just gotta measure and get it ordered.. It won't be bad at all... Just getting the time to do it is my prob..
 
One done and going in the horns for testing...

A VERY noticeable difference between the original x-overs that came from Al Klappenberger as a kit, and the new ones. I went with Sonicraft caps in the 2.2uf position and the audio grade Mills resistors. The smearing of the sibilant S'ssssssss are gone...

Prometheus---"Corridor of Mirrors" has some hi freq slash and burn stuff ..that if it aint right it will drive you straight from the room. When big horns are not done right or when something goes bad.....it's REAL BAD.....prolly spoiled a lot of folks on horns.......but man...done right....
