Tell me what you think

Believe it or not I used a piece of a transparent green birthday party goody bag wrapped around the strip 2 times. I also have a transparent green file folder I was going to cut and try and since its a stiffer plastic I should be able to crease it and make it fit tight around the strip.
 
I also found out how much light is lost out the top. It's lighting up the bottom of the knobs of the preamp so I'm going to line the insides of the meter cover with foil tape to reflect as much light as possible and plug the original bulb holes as well.

That looks very cool! I would be concerned about covering the top vent on the 400 though, very concerned indeed, especially in a rack like that with very little air circulation. I set my amps on the top of the stand, that way they get normal unobstructed cooling and when I am feeling frisky, I can drop a big box fan on top of the amp for forced air cooling

Seriously, you don't want to undo all your work with an amp that blows up from heat buildup. I imagine the original boards are already very brittle
 
Big E , I would not operate that 400 with anything on top. If you push these amps into anything less than a 4 ohm load they will heed cooling.

My order of personal colour preference is
1. amber
2. white

The problem with the amber is finding a 5mm with enough dispersion. The ones in my 400 are dimmer but have more dispersion. The 400 has a stock light board in it.
Wish I knew what the part numbers were.

No you guys misunderstood. I used foil tape inside the meter lens. look how even the lighting is now. It was darker at the top because of the light loss and now its very even. Hell no I wouldn't cover the vents on the case!! Do you think I'm crazy?

IMG_1155.jpg I used this tape around the top and sides inside the meter and put a piece over the top because I could still see light. Outside tape wasnt necessary but I had it cut already
 
Wow I got really close with the color. The LEDs were of course a little blue so I used a strip of yellow first to get rid of the blue then wrapped with the green.IMG_1156.jpg

You are covering the top vent... with your preamp!

In your image, you are showing what I assume is a preamp sitting right on top of the 400, that's a bad thing to do, especially in an enclosed stereo cabinet. Look at your preamp, you have probably a 1/4" space between the 400, heat is just going to build up with nowhere to go

This is just MY observation, I have been known to be wrong most of the time. I do know my amps would be a smoking hulks if I ran that setup at the volume levels I am accustomed to

Another cool thing is if I get different equipment Ill just change the colored sleeve. I could go purple, pink whatever, if I wanted.
 
Sorry let me clarify. Thats just the face plate and meters. I just pushed my existing amp back and put the face up to see how it looked. The preamp gets moved up almost 3", the preamp sits on a shelf and theres an 11/2" between top of the amp and bottom of the shelf.
 
Actually in the pic the faceplate is covering the shelf and the bottom half inch of the preamp
 
Ha! I have some clear red film to slap on the meters when I am playing Devil Music, my wife will FREAK :happy6:
