Okay...I got the grilles off then the backs and according to what Oak Tree Vintage says these are both version TWO (the same speaker numbers with a '-2' suffix. I spent last night doing this and taking pictures.

Didn't take pictures of the crossovers, would have to open the backs again and so that...so far as I know it was the high frequency attentuator control being bypassed and new foam 10" surrounds instead of the original cloth.

Crossover 1: It looks like all new Daytons in there...

I'm not sure they are doing justice to the bass response but I can read them and check them with my meter for you in the morning...some instructions please.

you should do whatever you feel is best, i think. it appears that those high-range pots are still in the circuit, are they?

in the interim, i have read up a bunch of stuff on this model over at AUDIOKARMA. seems cap replacement in the X-overs
is standard recommended procedure for these, as in pretty much all speaker systems of this vintage. good to know it has already been done here.

you've given them an audition already, right? how they sound? anemic at all in the bottom end, as you seem to fear?
they appear like they might have the potential to sound rather well-balanced, or so the driver complement seems to suggest to me...

Here are pictuers of a pair beign parted currently on eBay:

Does that look like a cloth surround to you? Not really sure and I've had them. Probably foamed.

I have 7 of 8 1970s Pioneer service books and can find the schematic and compare to the values of the parts on these. You should be able to find the wiring differences by ey but I just got up less than two hours ago...you sawe I was busy if you followed my responses all night to various threads here and on Tapeheads...fed the cat and got to sleep after 8 am.

those look like the cloth originals to my eye, but it isn't exactly the easiest thing to tell from photos.

at any rate, they sure appear well-designed...

Here is what I read atd the terminals: 8.0 and 8.5 ohms. Something I found when I moved the Sony receiver into the living room system...the receiver can be switched between 4-6 ohm or so and 4-16 ohms if I red it right and the Sony's output was more like around 6 ohms most likely...no whimpers were noted on either end. I will pur them on the SX-D7000 in here for a bit.

I decided to get boxes at the shipping store to have uniform but they will run $11.25 each. I had a 22 dollar bill for the emergency room visit I made Thanksgiving Day when my glucose got too high...I've asked them to check for Oregon Medicaid help twice but it may be the copayments or they may not understand what I asked them to do as they are in IDAHO. Then agai, when I was hopsitalized in July 2012 it was in Idaho, I was flown there.

If they are okay on the D7000 I'll ask if there is anything else I need to look at but I can pack them next week. My cash budget for food is getting rather low though...the budget is about full period for April, hoping to sell a couple small things too.

By the way, John, those are somebody else's but I've got the genuwine artichokes running laps in the living room right now and I think they will sing bass and soprano just fine :) They are D7000 APPROVED! Kinda don't have the boxes to pack them right now but I'll find them as I have the packing materials alright.

No, that series was the 1981 set with the flat faces and champagne with brown fronts. This is the SX-3900 with a all-digital tuning and the two main fluoroscan based control pads. It's sister was the SX-D5000 which was somewhere around 80W/ch IIRC and more like SX-3700/3800 territory and probably even rarer. The Communication series or whatever marked the shift from blue to GREEN lighting as well, including LED frequncy readout.

By the way, your speakers kick ass while I've been rocking them on Chaka Khan and Patrice Rushen etc from You Tube with the RealTek audio on this ASUS board...no problems at ALL!

Well, the problem ofm getting them to Umatilla, BUT! I have an idea and a friend who might Pony Express?

Yes...you'll get it PE next month when my friend Fred makes a trip back up I-84 on the way back to Oregon City.

I'm getting stuff from him on his way over and he'll take them to you on the way back so stay tuned.

Didn't have an album in particluar, it was just that one track, Yarbrough and Peoples, a bunch of good old school shit from the 80s, stuff that really impressed me as a teen.

I ought to record a cassette, I bookmarked those puppies!

HMMMMMM...Yes, they will need a demo tape, what fun!

McD's wasn't bad at all, my father/mother's ex treated us to a nice lunch. at any rate, more details;
i'm pretty certain the cloth surrounds are all factory original, though i might just be fooled on that;
