Proper grounding design is a much overlooked and misunderstood science Lee. Appears that you found a good single point ground location and employed it successfully. Odd that you did not get support in this area from the kit designer. If it was in the instructions that way, it must be occurring everywhere that kit is deployed.

Yes it is. He then requests you to send it back and charges to fix it. LOL Good scam. Joe do you know John? He is in Mass. Also. He has done some things. I think he did a Q&A session. On here Was on TTs I think. Do you guys have burnish brushes for your drills to make good groundings points. I'll copy my email to him and you can see what I said. LOL

This is the email to him. LOL Lee wasn't talking bad about you.

I know of John but I do not know him personally. I know Mark Leverault personally who also does digital and analog electronica and audio work in the southern NH area. Could be related, do not know.

Another validation of the star grounding topology method. I would not think that it applied as much to ICs as it does to discrete components but I guess it does.

Nice fix, Lee.

Well, grounding as we all know (now) is half black art and half science. I guess what was kicking my ass so bad was the fact I did not know what to expect from a kit tube pre-amp. I like to think I'm pretty good at following instructions and implementing said instructions. I'm pretty fair at assembly and construction, so this was weird. John's suggestion was after sending a bunch of pics and e-mails back and forth about what was doing when. Good man, and spot on with his recommendation. I would still be floundering.

Dayam, I got it in early January, Jeez. Most of ther time it's just been down in the mancave exchanging dirty looks to one another.

Are you talkin to me or REx?? If me, yeah, I want to give tubes another try. I really like the way they treat horns. Tri-amping the horns with a good tuber on the mids may be the shit yet.
