Like my BlueTooth ?
The Speakers are called CornScala's and I bought the KIT from Bob Crites and built them out in the garage and then I got some rosewood veneer and tried my hand at it... They sound so awesome that I have sold most of my speakers. Looking at the picture, I built the Rega Clone turntable, I built the Clair Brothers WOPL, I built the Carver 4000t Pre, and tuners can be a mofo if you don't have the right equipment so I didn't build the Technics Tuna, I just added red LED's. I get lots of satisfaction out of building my own shit (ESPECIALLY IF IT WORKS AND SOUNDS GOOD TOO). Now that my shoulder has healed (mostly), I got some other projects up my sleeve. Me and Glen (Grapplesaw), were collaborating on a couple pairs of MONSTER Mono's so I'd like to finish that. Might as well since he stole all my good parts.... :)
I thought that might be a set of the CornScalas's I had read about :tongue2: with envy. Love those Crites titanium diaphragms. Had a set in some meager 3.2's and they really did sound great. I want to try applying some veneer one day I just have to sort out what set of speakers that are nice enough to keep and not too nice that if I trash them I wont want to jump off a bridge somewhere. That Carver pre is about as fine looking a set as I have ever seen. Looks like a spaceship control panel. I call myself building at a heap of stuff but nothing anywhere like what you have there. Moving in that direction though. A bit at a time. In fact, a bit of that bit at a time just showed up today in the mailbox. Thanks a million. I am going to hop out to the shop later on tonight and follow instructions. Thanks again, Jim.

A nice thing about the CornScala's is that you don't HAVE to buy it all at once if cash it tight. I'm going to start buying the drivers soon. He's about four hours away. I'd really like to drive down there & meet him.

Looks like you have some original AR-3s in your collection. A world class speaker in all regards (except the noisy L-Pad pots).
I agree about the AR 3's they "aint pretty but they sho can play" ! I have an idea that I will take those pots, l pads, rheostats whatever they are back out, put in terminal blocks and re electroplate the silver on them. They are still noisy after I took them apart cleaned them. You have a good eye ! Thanks.

One of the best speakers ever made, the ones before the 3A's came along with the foam surrounds which sounded great but did not last (long excursion beat the crap out of the surrounds). The original cloth surrounds are the best. Butt ugly under the grille cloth but sounded great nonetheless.

Yeah, the envelope had the diodes in it.

TX 01.jpg No diodes today. Today was Transistor Monday though !! I will bet they will be here tomorrow. Remember I am in Alabama, lived here all my life and we do stuff well, kinda different here than some parts..(should read bass akwards) :toothy9: This is the most TO-3's I have ever seen ! Thanks again Sniffer. laatsch55, thanks for hanging in there with me. And to think how I worried about loosing on of the OPT screws........Not any more.

I moved from Huntsville last year back to Zona... It was brutally Humid.... I prefer the "Dry Heat"...

Well, hopefully you'll get some use out of the tranny's. If not, send them to Ed. I sent him 2 Medium flat Rate boxes full of them things... I think I seen them on ebay. :)

I use to work with guys from GE Huntsviille on projects years ago. They always wanted me to move/work there. I never thought I'd enjoy the heat, but a nice bunch of guys to work with. Good luck with the project.

Hey, I appreciate that. Worked as a subcontractor for GE as well. Only for a short time though. Never worked in Huntsville though.
